City really should have done strikers by 4-5. Some great chances missed and many great saves by the keeper. I was quite dissapointed with the standard by strikers tbh So was I, not sure how they compare with the other teams but if that's the 4th best side in NPLQ then the competition is probably higher quality here. They looked better physically but the football played by AC was far better. They were hot and cold towards the end of the season. Spikes in form etc. -PB

Second half was enjoyable Olympic were well on top and scored a great goal they also had a shout for a handball in the box by Anderson but I thought it hit his chest.
The last goal was very unlucky.
Wouldn't be surprised if Way gets a contract in the A-league, looks a lively players. Thought Sim was the Mariners best.
Crowd was 1,374 I think. It didn't help that last week our best midfielder did his acl, 10 minutes into this game you lose your starting cb and then 10 minutes later lose your cdm. Jake McLean however is a real talent. Got a double against knights and the goal tonight was superb! Turned caceeres then plays a one two for a tidy finish past Reddy! A-league teams give this boy a trial 3 goals 2 games. McLean was quality this season, someone should pick him up either in the A-League NPL divisions down south.

Sydney Olympic looked very tired against Bentleigh. Bentleigh came out with a very simple, strong gameplan. Attacking and push Olympic hard in the first 20-30 and use up what little reserves they had garnered left. 2 quick goals later, and Olympc were out of it. Aside from a few opportunities late in the first half, Olympic never stood much of a chance. You could tell they were wrecked after going to Extra Time not 48 hours earlier. The second half proved how tired Olympic were. Sloppy challenges resulting in a fair few cheese slices handed out. Truth be told, Bentleigh could have had a couple more, but I think they'd be content, except for conceding with virtually the last kick of the game. Bentleigh never really got out of third gear, and Olympic struggled to get into second for the majority. That said, it was an interesting game. But despite their coaching voicing a few worries about having to play on a synthetic pitch, it didn't seem to both Bentleigh at all. The fact that Olympic played 48 hours earlier in a tough grand final showed, and I think had they not had to go through that it would have been a much more even game. The scorelines doesn't quite do Bentleigh Justice. That said, an entertaining evening was had. $5 Peroni bottles were a big win. :) As for the crowd, I think a couple of factors were the reason why it wasn't as large as some might have been expecting. Firstly the game was played on somewhat neutral territory for both teams. Lambert Park is APIA Leichhardt's home ground. Sydney Olympic's home ground, Belmore Oval was made unavailable to them by the Canterbury Bulldogs for whatever reason. Whilst it really is a stones throw from Belmore to Leichhardt (20 minutes by car in traffic) that would have put off a few of the Belmore 'faithful', who probably stayed behind to take up their position as keyboard warriors. I don't think weather was a factor, despite looking ominous earlier in the day, by mid-afternoon Tim Bailey actually got something right for a change and it cleared right up. I also don't think it was made very clear that the match had been moved. I only found out from a mate that the game had been moved from Belmore to Lambert a few days previously. Either way, it was a fun evening, and good banter and laughs were shared by EasternGlory, Scouse Roar and myself. Looking forward to catching up with them and others, and enjoying a cracking match between Sydney United & Sydney FC next Tuesday night. Bring it on!!!

'Dat slip by the Olympic goalkeeper for the Mariners third goal. Good lord the Victory looked slick. The way they worked that second goal was excellent. Connor Pain was superb, and Berisha is going to continue to score a fucking buttload of goals if he continues to receive that sort of service. Shame about the scoreline, it would have been nice to see more competitive match. But the crowd was good.

No idea if anyone has talked about this already but this is my views of last night’s Tuggers game at Viking Park against MV. There was not performance akin to MK Dons v Man Utd from a few weeks ago by the Tuggies boys but it was a good night of football in the Capital. Over 5,100 people turned out in suburbia Tuggeranong to cheer on the local side. There was a small contingent of MV fans who made the trip up. Overall the atmosphere was good with friendly banter being exchanged between the MV fans and the active group of Tuggies fans. The ground overall was buzzing with excitement about seeing a local side play an A-League team here in Canberra in a competitive game in the Cup. it was very quickly obvious that Tuggers was not going to pose any real threat to MV has they rolled in two goals quickly off the mark with ease. No repeat of the heroics of Sheppered from the South Hobart game. The home side were able to stem the goals for a while but soon enough the class of MV shone through. Conner Pain had a fantastic night on the wing with the Tuggies defence unable to handle his pace. The difference between what were armatures not too long ago ( Tuggeranong United started paying their players for the first time in their history this year ) compared to professionals was obvious. I did think it was a little overkill to play Besart Berisha for the entire game. In truth he did not have the best performance I have seen from him but his sublime skill infront of goal was enough for him to slot home 3 goals anyway. It was sad to see in the second half a small group of travelling MV fans light some flares and then get into a brawl with security guards. It got quite ugly there for a few minutes and it was so unnecessary. The banner they put up as they lit the flares read something like this "14 here’s 5 more years". This was in reference to one of the MV fans having a 14 year ban from the A-League and telling everyone he does not give a flying f about extending the ban. It was supposedly also reported on Fox that a MV fan also threw a cigarette but into a girl's donation tin, again poor form and so not necessary considering up until that point everyone had been having a good time. I was glad to hear the Fox commentary team were scathing of the Victory support at that point and praised Canberra. Well we will have to wait until next year now for another crack at the big time. Can't wait for it. Hopefully we get one of our better teams to qualify as Tuggeranong did not even make the ACT finals this season.

Sydney United 1-1 Wellington Phoenix at a friendly behind closed doors last night. Safe to say United dominated most of the match, and should of won it late, gives me more confidence going into next week.
