So yeah my 5 cents from tonight. Overall, a wonderful, and very enjoyable evening spent in the company of Sydcro58 & Draupnir. Got to King Tom pretty early and beat the crowds. Enoyed several cold beers and some very delicious cevapi. As for the game itself, started off at a cracking pace and then evened out shortly before Naumoff's cruise missile into the top left corner. Gem of a strike. Standouts for me were Abbas, Naumoff and Gerbasch. Brosque and Ibini were solid, without being spectacular. Pedj Bojic was downright pants. He was shocking. I've seen better performances from Petkovic too. His mistake for the goal, and it's never good conceding moments before half time. In fact the first half reminded me of our last home game vs. Perth Glory last season. We were solid without being spectacular, but a win in the cup is a win in the cup. And I'll take any win any day of the week ending in Y.

This was beautiful. Janjetovic has a knack of picking players up and moving them around. He did the exact same thing to Ben Sigmund against Wellington Phoenix last season during that goalmouth scrabble.

-PB Yes, because it was clearly cove members behind the back fence. Nice work on the x ray vision superman. I also can't fathom the logic that cove members would run behind the fence to lob them at their own end. Guess its a bit like the preseason between FC and WSW where FC fans lit and threw flares and WSW supporters got blamed for it. Guess you need to take the good with the bad. When have we ever played you in pre-season? Why would Sydney fans throw flares at the cove? You people are unbelievable.

The flares came from behind the cove, over the back fence from the street behind. It's obvious who it was, and what they were trying to achieve. And it's a lot smarter than ripping flares inside the stadium itself. What I found more amusing is that we nearly scored. Just as the first flare came flying over the fence, a shot ripped up onto the cross bar. Everybody's attention was on the flare, and then the second flare, and then snapped back to the game.

Well after charging $40 for some tickets I reckon they can afford to fix some stuff up ;)

So... 7 teams came from FNSW, 0 left. 1 team came from FFSA, 1 left.
Just thought I'd remind people.

So after blacking myself out from social media and watching the coverage post trip to hindmarsh I can finally post.
I was very very suprised tonight at 1) how good we were and 2) how rubbish Brisbane were. Brisbane did not have a single period all game where they held the ball and put pressure on for any period of time. The minimal chances they had were here and there on the break. We probably should have won the game 3-4 Nil on the balance of play but some very strong signs. A very interesting formation of 343 with a narrow midfield diamond, isais dropping back as another cb everytime the cbs split.
On our new signings. Jimmy jeggo was immense. His work rate was absolutely incredible. He honestly reminded me of Jordan Henderson the way he put himself about. McGowan and Boogard were solid as a rock at back. McGowan looks a very good signing. Pablo also looks very good early.
So very very excited about the season moving forward. Great night of football. And to cap it off the stadium is looking incredible.

Ref was shit for the FC vs United game. Some of those tackles from United58 left alot to be desired, Kris Griffiths-Jones had yet another piss poor game. Lucky no one from FC walked off with a broken leg after the tackles he waved on.
Flares lived up to the hype. 3-1, should of been more.

Just thought I'd remind people. Now all you have to do is a) tell people that matter b) convince people in SA to actually play football at all levels

Just thought I'd remind people. I was just trying to find a fairer way to allot slots for next season using a league table system or a modified UEFA Country Coefficient, but there was no way NSW wouldn't come out with any more than one or two slots no matter which method I tried, which they'd never let fly. Happy to share the results if anyone is interested.

Flares lived up to the hype. 3-1, should of been more. Meh, Pedj - at least - made up for the leniency at times I think. On a whole, I think it could've gone either way for most of the game and, had it gone the other way, I think United would've found the energy to get through the second half of the second half ;) Not an undeserved win, fwiw, not sure they deserved the three goal loss either though but meh, that's football. A GOOD game though and a tough fight.

Happy to share the results if anyone is interested. I've been working on a similar system, that combines a FFA Cup performance based quota with preferably the participation based quota (I don't have these participation numbers so have used the number of FFA affiliated open-age stand alone mens clubs in each federation). These are the allocations that I end up with at the moment, however Victoria, South Australia and Queensland can still improve their numbers and the other federations will decrease their quotas as a result. NSW 5 teams (5.31) Vic 5 teams (4.89) Qld 4 teams (4.39) SA 2 teams (2.10) WA 1 team (1.47) NNSW 1 team (1.32) ACT 1 team (0.98) TAS 1 team (0.42) NT 1 team (0.13) Then performance data could be averaged over a few years as the comp continues.
