Schultzy wrote:Well done by the FFA from what I can see. Actually like having Perth after another. Keeps people tuned in. Whereas less will tune in for a standalone game at 10pm I agree Schultzy, I hadn't thought about the option of the Perth game being part 2 of a double header, but perhaps 7pm and 930pm East Coast time might work better, even though that means 4pm and 630pm kickoffs in the West. IMO the Wednesday night scheduling makes more sense than sticking rigidly to Tuesday and finishing the Quarter Finals a week earlier means there can be more flexibility in scheduling the semi finals on November 11 and 25. I see Adelaide City will be playing Adelaide United soon and the other 2 NPL clubs will hopefully be getting some friendlies lined up now they have their games set. Other NPL teams and perhaps NYL teams, State "Allstars" lineups or Young Socceroos type games could all keep them sharp before their next Cup Matches.

One thing the FFA cup has made me wish we had even more is boutique stadiums/grounds. Watching football is a much better viewing experience with the cameras and crowd closer, and it has made me love the early cup rounds even more.
I'd generally rather watch a game in a small ground packed to capacity with 7-8k (or even less) than a seemingly empty stadium with twice that.

Also a bit devvo that it was the Bentleigh Greens home game that was the double header with the Victory away game, I would have liked to have gone to that one in person, but can't now as I'd miss watching my own team. I'm sure many Melburnian football people are in the same boat, which is a shame as it will definitely dent the attendance at Kingston Heath.

Edited by paladisious: 29/9/2014 08:52:19 PM yep fat chance of getting many Victory fans out to kingston heath when you'd miss the first half driving back

If I'm wrong, gentle reader, then by all means please rebut with your attendance at the Bentleigh game.

I would assume some people need to work in the morning. Perth game won't finish until midnight then commute home...etc some wouldn't be in bed until 1am.

It now sucks for the PBS. This is now their off season at the pointy end of the cup.
