On December 12 (friday night) we have: AUFC vs Bris Perth vs Newcastle.
Postpone both of these games, play the final at a capacity crowd on a Friday night, Let SBS have the Saturday game instead (or broadcast this?), and Bam sell out, exposure, win win.
OR: play dec 16 tuesday night. and struggle to crack 10k. Will fall on deaf ears regardless :( -PB

I honestly think that the final will be a flop if it isn't moved. earlier rounds on tuesdays are all well and good but how can you generate genuine prestige by hosting semi finals and finals during the week. People keep talking about how next year it will be on Aus day, I hope to god this is right but it doesnt solve the issues for earlier rounds (infact I think its worse for state clubs and the competitive nature of the competition 4 months out of season but thats another issue). As it is, tonight has barely sold over 2,000 tickets, there are only 2 stands open (which will not sell out) and we might just crack 5,000. Anything under 12,000 for a final is not acceptable, and I honestly dont think it can be achieved on a tuesday night.

Edited by scott21: 12/11/2014 02:15:13 AM Looking forward to sitting down to watch the Socceroos play Japan at the very civilised time of 7.30pm next Tuesday. It would be very inconvenient if it didn't kick off until 10.30pm and finished after midnight. Wouldn't want to get sleep debt, but at least I don't have to stay up until 4am to watch the Premier League on the weekend.

Flat: Malick Mane after the Mariners' loss to Perth. Photo: Getty Images Central Coast coach Phil Moss wants to kill two birds with one stone in their FFA Cup semi-final against Adelaide United.
While Moss wants a win on Wednesday night to set up a shot at the inaugural cup, he also reckons an away victory at Adelaide's Coopers Stadium could help the Mariners kick-start their sputtering A-League season.
"We are very disappointed with the way results have been going in the A-League but the FFA Cup is a chance for us to get our season back on track," he told reporters on Tuesday.
"We are 90 minutes, or 120 minutes, away from playing in a final for some silverware so there is huge motivation.
"We are taking this extremely seriously.
"I'm taking a team down there to get a result against one of the form teams of the A-League so it's a great challenge and a fantastic opportunity."
The Mariners have lost three A-League games in a row while Adelaide remain unbeaten in the league after five rounds.
But Reds coach Josep Gombau said form would count for nothing in the knockout cup semi-final.
"A cup game is different," Gombau said on Tuesday.
"It's a final and out of respect for them, I don't want any excess confidence.
"They won't be easy. They are a good team."
Adelaide will summon Pablo Sanchez from a back injury, the Spanish attacker looming as replacement for striker Bruce Djite, who will miss at least the next fortnight with a thigh strain.
And the Mariners will be without reliable right-back Storm Roux, who is in Asia on national team duty with New Zealand.
Central Coast have advanced to the semi-finals without yet facing an A-League opponent – they have put nine goals past second-tier clubs while conceding just one.
But Moss was wary of the Reds' hot early-season form in both the cup and league.
"Everything is stacked against us for tomorrow night, which is just the way we like it," he said.
"There are plenty of incentives ... some players play their whole career with never playing in a semi-final or a final so the motivation is extremely high to get through." http://www.smh.com.au/sport/soccer/central-coast-mariners/central-coast-mariners-want-ffa-cup-success-to-get-ball-rolling-20141111-11kkfy.html

Quote:Bentleigh Greens' FFA Cup run wins Australian hearts as club counts success of biggest ever night
Not even a plethora of volunteers and 350 kilograms of souvlaki meat could prepare the Bentleigh Greens for the biggest night in the club's history.
As the last remaining semi-professional team in the inaugural FFA Cup, Australian football fans threw their support behind the underdog as the Greens lined up against A-League club Perth Glory in Tuesday's semi-final.
The result may have gone the way of the Glory but the night, and indeed the entire competition, has been an unmitigated success for Bentleigh.
Kingston Heath Soccer Complex holds around 3,300 supporters, and seemed to be at capacity well before kick-off against Perth as the demand for tickets left hundreds of fans stranded at the gates.
But the queue outside was nothing compared to the one in front of the canteen, as thousands clamoured for one of the club's signature souvlakis.
"There is a massive queue. We're just volunteers for the club, so it's a whole bunch of people getting together to help the club," said George Sofocleous, Bentleigh's events manager.
"It's about raising money, getting together. Hopefully we can invest the money back into the kids, the juniors."
On the pitch the Greens yet again acquitted themselves well, but found a passage to the Cup's final to be one step too far against the in-form Glory, going down 3-0.
Far from disappointed, Bentleigh coach John Anastasiadis said his players had given their all and could prove to trailblazers for future semi-professional clubs in the competition's future.
" I couldn't be prouder for the boys," Anastasidis said after the match.
"They gave it all they got and, you know, in the dressing room they were very tired. You could tell that our boys were just spent. And that's all you can ask from them, really.
"We hope we've inspired a lot of other non-league, non A-League teams to really take this cup seriously and next year be better for it."
The small club from Melbourne's south-east with Greek Cyrpiot roots has found itself at the forefront of Australian football in recent months, and its achievements are not lost on chief executive Con Argiriou.
"Look, it's great for the club. We've never had that many people before ever, everyone enjoyed themselves," Argiriou said.
"Coming this far, for a little club like ours to come this far, it's fantastic." http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-11-12/bentleigh-greens-revel-in-success-of-club27s-biggest-ever-night/5884734It's been a fantastic run for Bentleigh, and it should be a name on everybody's lips now if it weren't before. Would love to see them back next season. Hopefully they can qualify.

FC Agree that the draw shouldn't be rigged like this, but your point would be totally invalid had Adelaide City beat the Greens.

By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.
