The issue with Hakoah is that they were allowed to change their logo and include the star of david in it, even though the NCIP explicitly states they shouldn't be allowed to do that.

It differs enough IMO

That's not a star of david

The star of David is a religious symbol too. Unless you're going to tell clubs to remove "Saint" from their names or to remove cross shapes from logos, there's no way it's going away. Not saying I agree with either side, but it's essentially a loophole that allows them to keep using it I suppose.

The NCIP explicitly states that new clubs may not have a logo that has any ethnic, national, political, racial or religious connotations either in isolation or combination and that any existing clubs logo upon a change may not have any ethnic, national, political, racial or religious connotations either in isolation or combination.

By including the star of david, which as you rightly point out is a religious symbol, in their new logo which was changed after the NCIP came in they are in clear breach of the NCIP and I would love to know the FFA's reasoning for approving the change.

What this needs is for someone like a South Melbourne, Sydney United or Melbourne Knights to change their logo and see whether the FFA approves it, I'd be very surprised if they did.

Hume City FC changed this year. The muslim symbol is just as close as the star of david symbol. Its not special treatment.

Not sure brother.

Hakoah means something like strength. So Hakoah is the same as Dinamo/Dynamo.

Which is accepted.

Theyre called

Hakoah Sydney City East Football Club

But it is where the line is undefined. Olympic is the English version of a Greek word, so that is ok, but then you have Surfers Paradise Apollo SC.. Is Apollo English? Or just how we spell a Greek Word.

There are several question marks
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_FFA_Cup_preliminary_rounds

University Azzurri
Old Scotch
Bunbury Dynamos
Hellenic AC
Fremantle Croatia

Im sure the list goes on.

Old Scotch is a drink, not a nationality.

At worst, it refers to the private school where-from the team arose.

I'm not sure.
You can accept olympic and juve/Juventus because they are clubs not nationalities. Then you should accept celtic (who are an ethnic team) because it is homage to the club, not the Irish , same with shamrock. I would argue Sydney Celtic FC is fine but Sydney Irish FC is not. Hence Darwin Olmpic is fine but not Hellenic FC. Bunbury Dynamo is fine, but not Gwelup Croatia.
Hokoah is fine.

Well actually according to the NCIP the name Gwelup Croatia is fine, just so long as they never want to change it to anything else.

I had to laugh last year at the Sydney United game v Sydney FC how loud to Croatian chanting was coming through on the TV, and the Croatian flags and jerseys in the crowd.

They should be thankful they are allowed to compete in the competition with their supporters constantly chanting stick the a-league up your ass.

And yes i know the FFA Cup and the a-league are different competitions but they are still run by the same people
