I have been impressed with NPL clubs from all states this year. They seem to be playing better football than they were.

Reid was very unlucky to have been ostracised at AU for refusing to take the captaincy over from his good mate Travis Dodd. For refusing it Coolen ostracised him. Reid also coached Rockdale very well.

Bit worried playing Heidelberg. We struggled with our first match in the FFA cup and if it wasn't for Mooy things could have been different. Not going to be a walk in the park.

Often it is do to with the heavy legs from hard preseason training playing against clubs who should be peaking at the end of their seasons.

Also, a lot of clubs seem to lack depth for whatever reasons, with some players being absent.

I would back us in to win this, But watching us with Edgeworth makes you think Heidelberg is a real chance. Hopefully we take this 100% serious and field a strong side. City dare I say it will boost the memberships for us and could put some bums on seats early on in the season for us.

Looking back last nights game was great for Australian football. It just goes to show that the gap isn't that big between HAL and the NPL.

Peaking but aren't even semi-pro lol.

There's a difference between a HAL club with all of its doctors, nutritionists etc and a semi-pro club that has one volunteer physio.

Purely from the perspective of what is good for the league.

A city v Victory cup final would be huge and in addition a City win would be even better.
Would be interesting if this did happen to see the effect of gate and membership.

A bigger and better supported Melbourne city is exactly what Victory need. (and the league).

An all Melbourne final between these 2 is instant sell out crowd. Would be huge.

Yeah you guys haven't been lucky with the draws. But...we got dicked by the lack of randomness involved by the host draw for the final.

I think winning the FFA Cup facing all A-League opponents is the best way to do it, i think if say you played all lower side teams until the end it would be shit on by other teams saying how easy it was because you faced yada yada etc.
