All A-League sides in the first year, including the reigning premiers and champions in the quarter final, a state league side on the other side of the country and both grand finalists, including the reigning premiers and champions in the quarter final yet again in the second year.

I think winning the FFA Cup facing all A-League opponents is the best way to do it, i think if say you played all lower side teams until the end it would be shit on by other teams saying how easy it was because you faced yada yada etc.
If a state league side can make the semis, and likely have to beat 2 a league opponents in a row, they would still be a deserving winner of the Cup.

I don't agree with everything the FFA does by any stretch, but one thing they have gotten right is the Cup and its format.

I agree, i meant if an A-League side only faced state league teams all the way through and won it wouldn't mean as much because of the easy run they had.

Despite Tim Cahill raving about how great the surface is at nib, it is scheduled for re-surfacing before the start of the A-League season. This means that there is a very strong chance that the Glory v WSW game will be at an alternate venue.

Could be either the WACA or Dorrien Gardens (if the lighting upgrade has been completed).

The WACA would be in similar stages of renovation leading into the cricket season. I'd imagine Subiaco will be used.

WACA surface is perfectly maintained throughout the year. There is a women's match scheduled there for first week in October so late September for football should be fine.

Subiaco is shithouse and would be even worse when it is only a quarter full. At the WACA, the pitch could be located in front of the Lillee Marsh stand which should be sufficient size for a mid week game.

Having said that I would prefer a jam packed and heaving Dorrien Gardens.

Round of 16 tips are up! up! up!
Some very interesting movers and shakers. TheSelectFew retakes #1 spot with an excellent performance in the MD2 of the Ro16, now leading the comp by 2, on 40 points from HutchonHoliday who has had an extremely good rise to the top of the rankings. Joyful Penguin happy feet's his way into the top 3 with a strong MD2 RO16, making me drop my hold on #1 and drop down to 4th, with what I must admit was a poor Ro16 in terms of tipping having decided to hedge my bets on a few cupsets. That may cost me a top 3 position come the end of the competition.

Some good moves in the upper-middle order with The Witness, Milan_7, FFACup/Volkz, and Scotty21 all eligible with a sniff into the top 3 providing their tips are correct and a bit of luck with correct scores along the way.

The middle order got a bit of a nifty shake up. Immense disappointment for Vincezogold who had an extremely strong Ro32, but failed to enter his tips for the whole Ro16, allowing him to slip right down the bottom of the ladder, and arguably out of the running for the top 3. 14 points outside the top 3, it's going to take a miracle for a comeback.

We welcome a few new tippers, although I probably shouldn't be counting them, but they're in it for shits n giggles. As a result, Iridium1010 moved out of the Red Zone, much to his delight I'm sure.

Must say, the top 5 are juicy going into the finals. :)

Bit of a late report but went to watch the Rockdale v Melbourne game, was a great game to see as a neutral but have to say it would have been a lot better if it was held at Rockdales home ground, no cevapi and no alcohol served at the game was a downer not to mention the atmosphere which would have been a lot better at Ilinden.
