Just back from Jimboomba! The home side were defeated 0-1 by the favourites Holland Park Hawks who were a division above them. The goal came from a deflected header off a set piece (39 mins). The game remained right in the balance until the end although in truth Jimboomba never looked like scoring - a mishit shot from a set piece was a close as it got - don't think they had a shot on target.

It was fun running the line, stood between some rowdy Jimboomba fans and a Holland Park Hawks defender who certainly invites some banter!

Waratah cup starts this weekend with 32 fixtures. Football NSW released them earlier this week.

I've had an attempt at doing up a bit of a high level preview of the games this weekend, as well as the progress so far. It's the biggest qualification weekend so far with 91 games to be played (less the 1 forfeit in Victoria).

There is some fair distances being travelled in Victoria. Won't be surprised.

Just annoys me that SA gets just the 1 spot in the finals due to lack of teams, but FFV have stacked their competition with teams that seemingly have no interest in completing the tournament.

Absolutely. Geelong to Beaumaris could be a 4 hour round trip depending on the traffic. Very unfair to make teams do that in the earlier rounds. And it doesn't mean the forfeited from lack of interest, I bet it's hard to convince a bunch of amateurs to drive that far for a game.

And dsriggs, we did have about 190 sides start off with compared to SA's 29 so lets not complain about a lack of sides just yet :lol:

F/T: Westgate 0 lost to Mornington 3 (Mornington progress to play winner of Old Carey/Noble Park United tie).

F/T: Eltham Redbacks 5 beat Old Camberwell 1 (Eltham Redbacks progress to an away tie at Fawkner Blues next weekend).

I believe the Redbacks are the first team to win 3 games in the competition so far.
