#cupset. Fantastic. #respect and #FIFAFairPlay for over the top results. I suggest someone start a 2015/16 page on wiki :D Also I reckon the finals should be a league cup.

Just back from Jimboomba! The home side were defeated 0-1 by the favourites Holland Park Hawks who were a division above them. The goal came from a deflected header off a set piece (39 mins). The game remained right in the balance until the end although in truth Jimboomba never looked like scoring - a mishit shot from a set piece was a close as it got - don't think they had a shot on target.
It was fun running the line, stood between some rowdy Jimboomba fans and a Holland Park Hawks defender who certainly invites some banter!

I've had an attempt at doing up a bit of a high level preview of the games this weekend, as well as the progress so far. It's the biggest qualification weekend so far with 91 games to be played (less the 1 forfeit in Victoria). Let me know what you think: http://www.pursuitofthecupau.com/#!weekend-preview-1/c1nz5

Hope that article gets lots of hits. Super analysis! I can't say 'cupset' was an original idea... it's been used for the FA Cup in England for quite a few years! http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=cupset

Just annoys me that SA gets just the 1 spot in the finals due to lack of teams, but FFV have stacked their competition with teams that seemingly have no interest in completing the tournament.

Edited by dsriggs: 14/3/2014 05:37:43 PM It should be zoned. Absolutely. Geelong to Beaumaris could be a 4 hour round trip depending on the traffic. Very unfair to make teams do that in the earlier rounds. And it doesn't mean the forfeited from lack of interest, I bet it's hard to convince a bunch of amateurs to drive that far for a game. And dsriggs, we did have about 190 sides start off with compared to SA's 29 so lets not complain about a lack of sides just yet

I believe the Redbacks are the first team to win 3 games in the competition so far.
(apart from the ACT teams, of course...)

Of the teams in the first round of Waratah cup I would realistically give only give Dandaloo and Wollongong United a chance at making the top 8, out of the amateur teams I would say Yagoona Lions would be my outsider to make it a couple rounds in, also will be interesting to see Locomotiv Cove (Sydney Fc's fans) to see how far they can go.
