So just to be clear, how is this Finals set-up going to work in the NNSW State Cup? Are they really going to have teams playing up to three games over two consecutive days?

Sounds like it! Crazy.

Quarter Finals on Saturday, Semi Finals (and FFA Cup playoff) Sunday morning, and if the two finalists aren't both from Newcastle, the Final will be played Sunday afternoon.

Terrible setup.

so the traditional melbourne derby in a playoff game. It's funny how many times it's worked out that way. Adelaide, Sydney and now melbourne.

plus in brisbane, it isnt really a traditional derby, but Brisbane Lions vs Brisbane Strikers is a battle between our two major NSL sides.

This is how they've run it for the last 3 or 4 years as best I can recall - and always at Coffs Harbour. The NNSW region is fookin' huge and the best teams aren't necessarily concentrated in one area, so I guess this is their way of finding some middle ground and reducing the need to travel.

There's been a North Coast Football team in the final for the last two years, which is kinda cool considering they'll go through to the final comp if they manage it again. Last year it was won by Urunga - population 3000 !!

New FFA Cup ball unveiled by Umbro today:

Quote:
Umbro launch official Westfield FFA Cup ball

Football Federation Australia (FFA) and Umbro today announced the Umbro Neo 150 Elite as official match ball for the Westfield FFA Cup 2014 – and the ball will be available for purchase at selected retail outlets.

Ryan Pittaway, Umbro Brand Manager Australia said he is thrilled Umbro will be partnering with the FFA for the Westfield FFA Cup.

“The growth of football in Australia and the strength of the local competition is a perfect match for our brand – which celebrates its 90th birthday this year,” he said.

“Our partnership with the FFA and the Westfield FFA Cup is what we hope will be the start of a long and successful relationship supporting the growth of the beautiful game in Australia.”

20 of the 32 teams for the first round of the Westfield FFA Cup 2014 are now known with the remaining clubs to be determined over the course of the next month before the Round of 32 draw on Friday 27 June 2014.

The Umbro Neo 150 Elite Match Ball has a traditional looking football design with modern features.

It is constructed with 14 panels, a tri-pli linings system and a Teijin outer shell to maximise power and control.

Umbro, the ‘Official Ball Supplier of the Westfield FFA Cup’, will supply the Umbro Neo 150 Elite Match Ball to all participating clubs and make it available for football fans at selected retail outlets.

FFA CEO David Gallop expressed his delight at securing the Umbro Neo 150 Elite as the Westfield FFA Cup 2014 official match ball.

“To have an international company with the footballing pedigree of Umbro supply the official match ball for the inaugural Westfield FFA Cup competition is an exciting prospect,” said Gallop.

“We look forward to working with Umbro for this inaugural edition of the Westfield FFA Cup and beyond.”

The official broadcast partner of the Westfield FFA Cup, Fox Sports, will broadcast the Round of 32 draw live and exclusive. Fox Sports’ coverage of the Westfield FFA Cup 2014 will include a minimum of 10 matches from the Round of 32 onwards, including all four Quarter Finals, both Semi Finals and the Westfield FFA Cup 2014 Final.

It's just home to Australia's oldest club.

It's own tiered league system with several semi-pro divisions.

More registered players than SA, WA NT & Tas.

Almost as many as vic and qld.

Breeding ground of almost 100 socceroos.

Orite m8 didn't ask you to flop it out and measure it. I'm curious as to who the oldest club in existance is. I thought the oldest club was from the Illawara region?

To be honest, the Illawarra region should be it's own federation IMO. It's big enough.

Adamstown rosebuds date back to the 1880's

There are a club or two in the Illawarra who date slightly afterwards

Balgownie Rangers website claims they are the oldest club in Australia formed in 1883. Adamstown claim to have formed in 1889.
Balgownie is from Illawarra

Just browsing google maps now, there is a distinct lack of pubs within suitable walking distance for pre-game dinner & beers. Closest I can find is the Matraville Hotel, and then it's 15 minutes to the ground via a bus & walking, not including waiting times for buses. :-k

Try the Pagewood Hotel, cnr Maroubra and Bunnerong Rds. Decent steak, or for cheaper eats, KFC next door.

From there it'd be about a 10min walk past Eastgardens to Hensley.

The weather might keep me away, there's only so much Semitic football love I can muster.

So apparently Steve 'bimbi' Corica is lacing up the boots again. He's making a short stint with Tilford Zebras in Hobart's cup final against South Hobart.
