Ladder so far http://www.foxsportspulse.com/comp_info.cgi?c=0-10178-0-337120-0&a=LADDER 3 sides still undefeated, perhaps unsurprisingly its lasts years Cup winners, FFA cup semifinalists and defending premiers. Big surprise is Oakleigh on 0 points so far. Edited by tbitm: 23/3/2015 07:04:30 PM

I didn't expect Oakleigh to be a contender this season but still surprised they didn't take any points from the Pascoe Vale game. I've heard rumours that Miron's very close to being sacked with Arthur Pappas possibly getting the job there. I think the ladder at this stage flatters Knights, they've had some soft kills and I expect after the game against Werribee they'll have a tough run against Bentleigh, South, Green Gully and Heidelberg

Hume City beating Northcote City 5-0 at the 87th minute when the sprinklers came on, forcing an abandonment.
It might be bold, but Northcote could argue that it was Hume City's fault that the game got abandoned, given it was their home ground, and get a replay...

Knights are lucky to have all 12 points from the games i've seen. Not too many convincing wins and a couple last minute winners have helped. I expect them to be around the top by the end of the season though. South or Bentleigh to win it Edited by tbitm: 25/3/2015 11:18:49 PM

To be honest, all evidence is pointing to him having very little quality as a manager. Copped a 4-0 drubbing against Port Melbourne last night, I'd be very surprised if he even lasts until next week

Bentleigh and South Draw 1-1 against Green Gully and Heidelburg, Knights defeat Werribee 2-1 with a winner in the 86th and Hume storm into 2nd with a 2-0 win over Dandenong.
Big games next week. Knights v Bentleigh, 1st v 3rd, and Green Gully v South, 5th v 4th

With Victory possibly looking at bringing in a keeper to replace Coe does anyone rate any of the NPLV keepers as being capable of stepping up?
Disregarding the visa players at Hume & Knights, the options would be:
Avondale- Siddall - Don't know too much about him tbh BG- Bray - I'd be happy with him getting a shot DT- Zeneli - Has sat on the bench for Victory before as injury cover but I think his form has gone backwards since those days. GG- Gonzalez - Out for the year with his knee injury HU- McMaster- Proven to not be A-League standard but he might be one of the less risky options NGW- Baresic - I think he's been their keeper this year, similar age to Spinella so I doubt they'd bring him in. Northcote- Theodoridis - Decent but I think there's better options OC- Honos - Maybe the pick of the bunch? He's pretty old but as short-term band-aid solution he might be ok. PV- Sardelic- Nowhere near good enough. Pavlidis- Could be an option? Haven't seen a whole lot of him PM- Gal- From what I've seen, I don't think he'd be up to the standard SM- Roganovic- Proven failure at A-League level Werribee- Saric- Not good enough imo
I guess there's also the issue of potentially derailing an NPL club's season by taking their keeper which probably wouldn't go down too well

The points system has seemed to have done the job of forcing clubs to focus on bringing young players through but i still think it is weighted too far in their favour. The point of having young kids play first team football is so that they can improve by playing against adults, not against kids their own age. That is one reason why A-league youth teams are entering their local State-based comps, to have their young players improve by playing against players who are better than them at this stage in their careers (but not so much better that they can't compete). Perhaps a revised version of this could work in the A-league, freeing up clubs with their financing of players but still preventing them from just signing whoever they want.

A lot of issues with the PPS but admittedly the system is a decent early attempt and was never gonna please everyone. Is the PPS a common element of the NPL nationwide?

No idea about how close they are to an A-League gig but imo Ingham is a fantastic player and I'm sure he will land a deal sooner or later, he is just a class above whenever I've seen him. Thurtell I'm not as sure on, he's super effective for the league but I don't see him scoring the goals that does against higher quality opponents, he'd definitely be first on the list for me though if a club was looking to try out a striker from this league.

Melbourne city youth are just a big a fail as their senior side. Dont see them getting direct promotion.
