Thank fuck I'm not the only one.

He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

Best Friends... you don't dog him then, but you don't have to hang around for the whole time... What i would do is come up for a reason why you may have to leave early "i've got this family thing on saturday morning" and if it's alright and your lucid after a few drinks and enjoying yourself you can stick around and say "buggar it, this is worth turning up hungover" or if it's incredibley shit say "sorry mate gotta go cause of this shit tomorrow" buy him a drink just before you leave and then get a taxi/train/bus home... the drink is minor detail but important cause he's hardly going to slag you off to his friends while he's having a drink that you just bought him

I'm in a similar situation for friday... 21st birthday at this pub, whenever i go there i either get kicked out early or get involved in verbals with randoms, its a fucking hole but my mates like it cause its like a seedy pub in the city without being in the city with a bunch of bogan tarts AND dogs play on friday and i'd like to watch it properly and then go to the pub but transport logistics will be difficult after 930

Much rather a pub, pubs serve beer. Clubs don't. Also, you're not paying through the nose ($10) for a watered down Jack & Coke. ](*,)

Also, pubs have an atomasphere. You can sit, talk to mates. There might be live Music - and Pool!!!!!!!!!! CLUBS DON'T HAVE POOL! Also, Clubs play their music wayyyyy to fucking loud, and it's all the new R&B stuff, which quite frankly i despise. It's not music, it's a noise!

You also get shitcunt bouncers who will let 16 drunk girls in without checking ID, but if you've had pre-drinks, good luck!

The only upside of clubs, is you get HOT! teenage girls in short, short skirts. But it's hard to perve when theres a horrible doof doof base that goes ON AND ON AND ON AND ON for hours.

Pubs >>>>>>>>Church>>>>Hanging out at retirement homes>>>>>>> Nightclubs.

You've got to let some other muppet buy the drinks and then move in later aye ;)

I hear that. $12 for a jug of beer (1.2L) at the pub, where you can kick back and talk shit and actually hear what people are saying - without the vacant chair next to you spontaneously bleeding from the volume of the music - as opposed to your 300ml of Jack and Coke for $10. It's pretty straight forward.

Disagree. Drinking at home with mates means a) If someone spills a drink, you have to clean it up. And b) you have to clean up the mess the next day when you're hungover.

Therefore, Drinking at home is not better than the pub.

It also means;
a)drinks are a hell of a lot cheaper
b)music is almost guaranteed to be all awesome.
c)Can talk about/do anything with almost no chance of being kicked out
d)vastly more options for entertainment (Vidya, Movies, Etc)
e)almost certainly not going to have put up with any dickheads
f)Can smoke whatever you want, as much as you want
g)can drink pretty much whatever you feel like
h)don't have to stop for a curfew or anything of the like
i)don't have to worry about stumbling home/saving money for taxis/designated drivers

Thus, Drinking at home is much, much better than the pub.

Cleaning up your own spew out of the carpet the next day while cleaning up the pizza boxes and beer bottles while hungover is never fun... and then you get your dickhead mates who pretend to be asleep on the lounge who A) won't help clean up B) won't fuck off.... and your stuck with your dickhead mates for the whole night where in a pub you can break off and talk to other people while at home your stuck with their dumb antics and unsubtle racist jokes

That's not the fault of drinking at home, that's your fault for having Shit friends.

As for your responses Afro, thats great, for one specific pub, that you're clearly well in with. This conversation is in general reference to each option.

It can't be the only pub with those options in the country. Otherwise it would have a LOT more business.

3.46am, can't sleep, ANZAC dawn service at 6. FML.

Australian clubs sound kinda shit. Most of ours have pool, and reasonably cheap tap beer. Kids and dickheads go to certain ones, avoiding them is easy and you usually avoid the shitty top-20 DJ as well.

Of course, finding a good pub with a bunch of your mates is awesome. However, from experience most clubs (in small NZ cities at least) sell handles for the same price as the pub. Often the pubs with a great atmosphere tax you for it through drink prices.

Having a houseparty with your crew is solid too as you control almost everything. As beer in NZ is significantly cheaper than in Australia, house shindigs are cheap and easy, and preloading is a huge thing when you do go out anyway. Of my housemates I am usually the only one who is keen to stay in, sadly.

BUT, it is hard to deny that getting absolutely blitzed and going into a nightclub, cutting heinous shapes on the floor, spinning drunken yarns to girls at the bar, feeding notes into the pokies for more sloshmoney, waking up the next afternoon feeling like death and going for food and meeting some random who thinks she saw you last night and had a really great conversation to you (which you pretend to remember), has to be one of the more interesting parts of the student nightclubbing experience.

That's my angle, anyway.

Again, that's not the fault of drinking at home, that's either your fault for being a messy/useless/lazy prick, or your fault for having shit friends who don't help.

EDIT: And in any case, cleaning up is an even smaller price to pay for the improvements I've pointed out before.

Firsr of all, that was uncalled for. What the hell kind of moderator are you?

Regardless of whether or not my friends will or won't help, if I don't have to do anything, don't have empty bottles filling up my bins, don't have to worry about noise complaints, don't have to worry about cleaning up AT ALL when I'm hungover, don't have to worry about people accidently breaking glasses, don't have to clean the toilet after someone misses, don't have to worry about my dog escaping because someone went out for a smoke and left the front door open, don't have to listen to neighbours complaining about cars parked infront of their house, don't have to worry about people getting drunk and fucking in my bed.

Can add more comfortable seating, more space, better bathrooms to the list of reasons Home >> Pub too.

Again, all a small price to pay for not having to clean the hell up.

Again, that's not the fault of drinking at home, that's either your fault for being a messy/useless/lazy prick, or your fault for having shit friends who don't help.

EDIT: And in any case, cleaning up is an even smaller price to pay for the improvements I've pointed out before.

'You' in a general sense, not 'you' specifically referring to you personally you dolt (FTR, that one was referring to your personally).

Fair points, but I'd still happily take that if it means enjoying the night more, which is certain considering my above points.
