Olympic lost it in a thriller by the way. Real nail biting stuff. Tense, right up until the final whistle, with both teams not giving an inch. very close game.

Sydney Olympic: 0

So does anyone know who actually paid for the cost of the trips. If its Sydney Olympic you know its guaranteed the parents of the kids paid.
Adelaide United did the parents pay some or all?
How is having rich parents paying for Contiki footballing tours going to help development.

I don't get this logic. It literally doesn't make sense.

It's like a 5 year old kid asking his dad why he didn't get a new bicycle for Christmas and the dad replying back "Well, why don't you go and buy yourself one?!".

It's the usual defence of the ignorant/blindly proud or patriotic - "Why don't you do it yourself then?!". Because criticising something isn't allowed unless you have the inherent ability to do it yourself

Man #1 (audience): Wow, you lost the football match by that much?
Man #2 (player): Well at least I tried! Where was your effort ffs?!

Everything was fine until this smart ass post was put up. If you think getting mileage and taking the piss out of an u12 team is the way to go then all power to you. I am sure there would have been numerous high scoring games at the tournament and not only against Olympic, who gives a shit, its u12's. It should be about having fun at that age and it looks like it was.

It's not uncommon for immigrant communities to overreact or lash out illogically at the slightest perception of criticism or discrimination.

But of course that wouldn't be evident here.

This is such a brilliant analogy. Except for the fact that A-League clubs like Sydney FC & Brisbane Roar have had nearly 10 years to develop a youth program and they have done fuck-all. Have a look at the Brisbane Roar website for their latest exciting installment:
"The new Brisbane Roar Development Program is targeted at boys and girls aged 10 – 15 years old throughout Queensland.
Players in this age group will be given the opportunity to work on this exciting new program which will include Holiday Clinics and Development Clinics throughout the year.
All players are encouraged to come and have a great Roar experience while progressing as young footballers".

And this piss-poor effort is actully more than SFC have achieved which is literally nothing.

And their fans take the piss out of the immigrants community clubs (as you put it) for their efforts. I am the first to agree that their youth program costs are prohibitive, and their quality of coaching often questionable, but unlike the majority of A-league clubs at least they are actually doing something.

So you compare Real Madrid who have millions of dollars in resources and can attract some of the best talent in Spain and all over the world and compare that to a state league club who don't even have a ounce of Madrid's resources and can only attract talent from a very small part of Sydney whom focus on there own pride and benefits to the local community.

It's comparing Apples with Oranges mate.

But no your logic is way more straight forward than that right….

Sydney Olympic has and always had some of the best talent in the country.. the kids dont have a pathway as promotion is not an option and the club is focused on building more pathways abroad so players can just bypass the a-league and send them direct abroad.

For example sydney olympic have made $50k from james demetriou to Nottingham forrest whereby adelaide united have not paid the $3k for ian ramsey. And sydney only paid $1500 for peter triantis. Olympic didnt get a dollar for so many other current a-league players.

Great move by the club if they can continue to move a player abroad every year than thats fantastic!

Oh and the comments about who is paying for the trip, dont turn it into some negative spin against olympic as since 1957 sydney olympic have poored millions into the game from its fans and so on and have never received $5 from any governing body in Australia unlike all a-league clubs atm.

This season alone sydney olympic will poor over $150k into football federation nsw which money from that goes to the ffa.

I don't see what the big deal is. The result reflects the difference between the two clubs. I can't remember if these games are a full 90 mins or not, but if that is the case, 15 is a pretty decent effort IMO.

I said Adelaide united youth team. There was an array of different youth levels involved, with the NYL equivalent being the oldest which Adelaide United competed in.

How did they go?

In the qualifying phase they were put into a group of 4 with:

Athletic Bilbao
UFB Jabac i Terassa
At C Hostalric

results:
1-3 UFB (lost)
1-0 Hostalric (won)
0-4 Bilbao (lost).

finished 3rd in the group and went through to a consolation phase as a result from there they made the semi finals of that.
AU 1-0 palafrugell CF
AU 3-0 Unio Esportiva Quart
AU 2-3 CE Hospitalet (after being 2-0 up, semi final of consolation phase)

All reports are that the possession style was very evident and impressive and that it has come along way with us dominating most games including nearly 60% vs Hospitalet.

I was following quite closely as My cousin is involved (actually scored in the last game). For those asking about cost, im not 100% sure but I think the club covered this for AUFC as it was something for the entire youth team. I could be wrong though.
