I presume our Phoenix and/or Roar figures are 'rounded up' figures or taken from anecdotal or projected claims, hence the discrepancy of '50'. We did well, to get as close as we did, relying on inconsistent, unreliable and at times, unknown guesswork, in getting member numbers from clubs. Some clubs quite transparent, open and proud but others was like extracting blood from stone. Thankfully the new member counter on the FFA's own Official A-League website, brings instant uniformity, transparency and better accessible measurement.

Thank you Edias! Indeed, our/my numbers are informal and somewhat short of the FFA's announced total, I'll edit the post and percentage differentials.

Davo1985, Sydney FC's 2013/14 membership figure is 10,841.

Updating Sydney FC's figure gives a total of 96,691 (50 in arrears).

Ok so these were the final membership figures for the year. All very positive!

It's clear that every club has pushed the membership side of things which is good to see. Depending how the off season goes, I reckon we could see a 15% jump next season. My prediction for next season is 130k which would be absolutely fantastic!

No idea, but we can presume that there will surely be aspirations coming top-down from Sage and co of a 'Top 6' finish, all the more given what transpired this season. Glory will seek to achieve/replicate atleast some of that on-field success, this time legitimately, for the coming season. Granted, Glory aspire to be a Top 6 every season or have under Sage. And with the talent Glory can still retain, including hopefully Keogh, I'm sure they still can.

Members wise, naturally the goal would have to be to meet or exceed the club record, which was that 6,298 or so figure they achieved this season. But that's a bigger challenge than it otherwise may've been, given the rug pulled out from under everyone, in this later season Salary Cap Scandal! Though, tbh, the long off-season may well benefit Glory as in a few ways that may help many folks kind of forget, or forget the sting of the Cap Drama and removal from top spot and the finals. Some things that may help along the forgetting and healing process would be some good local signings IMHO - Bringing home the likes of Jesse Makarounas, Nikita Ruka', Adrian Madaschi and too Brad Jones as Goalkeeper... would be a kind of West Aussie revolution, bringing back some of that local enthusiasm through the prodigal sons returning home. IIRC The circumstances that saw Makarounas leave in-particular, during the Fergie era, that irked alot of fans!

This Cap Drama SHOULD breed retrospection, modesty etc... so all the more reason for a kind of 'return to roots' approach, including to kind of recoup some of that kind of 'moral cache' that can appeal to the heart of the club and the fan-base. FTR The approach I advocate is something many clubs have utilised, including WSW famously, in their debut season - that's inpart what got soo many local fans enthused for 'their team' - bringing in locals like Tarek Elrich, NTS, Mark Bridge, Aaron Mooy, Labinot Haliti, later Tomi Juric etc... Some more of that kind of ethos would 'heal' Glory and their relations with fans, almost instantly!

Scott21, in a way - many, MANY, ways, this is what, sadly, prolongs the discussions in the PG Thread. :/ The fingers ever point to Sage - for better or worse. IMHO, I don't know - not soo easy to solve and better the devil you know? We can cheer for Keogh and co IF Glory, now under tight scrutiny, can re-jig the roster to fit within the rules. They seem to be and they have to. And with the forced clear-out taking place that is naturally opening up alot of space 'within the cap' too.

PLUS, due to the Glory, there will be new Cap flexibility for long-term servants/performers which may allow Glory, and many teams (Including your Victory!), to secure the top-performers within the cap, rather than risk losing them due to their increased value (Infact I proposed this idea a while ago - I think somebody was listening? :-k)!

Elsewise, I would be careful throwing stones - Glory may've f ed, but the suspicions and even arguable double-standards over the Big Blue clubs are ever present. But such is the fair place that is this world, we have the SMH breaking Salary Cap Scandal stories on Glory, while SFC and Victory and their star-studded squads get away, perfectly fine - they must be 'squeaky clean'!

How can you stand there and cheer for Keogh next season? wont it feel wrong? Im skeptical as to whether Lowe was innocent/naive to this whole fiasco. He came across as going from arrogant to bitter real fast once you lost top spot, is he popular in Perth?

Perth/WA deserves a good team but wtf, how can you keep f ing it up so badly?

^ Adelaide United really found another level in this area, this season. The club 'claiming' 10k was a target, a couple seasons or so ago - it seemed laughable! But who's laughing now? 10k minimum is actually a reasonable expectation come 2015/16!

Roar doing well to reach to the levels they finally ought to have, just a shame for ownership instability aswell as club under-performance and coach instability. Continued under-performance may threaten their present numbers - less the new coaching appointment and 2015/16 team really blows people out of the park?

Well done Melbourne City - be it through gimmicks like Villa or the like, the saw enough interest and stimulus to not only blow Heart's previous record away, but push well beyond 10k. Entering into the second full season of the 'Melbourne City' experiment, it will be interesting to see how they evolve and if the interest will continue to sustain or even continue to grow? They've seen alot of squad upheaval and may see a little more - they probably won't have the same Villa stimulus and 'new shiny thing' anticipation they had last season. Hopefully reaching the semi-final and slight team improvement can be enough?

Jets are soo uncertain, will their subsidised membership structure continue? FFA in-charge, so we watch carefully. If the membership pricing changes, then hopefully the club can 'retain' atleast 8k members or so, then that will be something.

Glory is a genuine concern - continuing controversy ever threatens the local reputation. The potential gutting of this strong team now an additional consequence. And with a new CEO, just the same old problems or... ? Glory's base was slowly building from an already diminished state, but another hit of controversy and instability like this... The club did 'okay' to reach to 'record levels' as it last season - it may be a challenge to even meet those levels this rate, less Lowe's recruitment and the new administrative regime can bring new verve and enthusiasm in the air. If anything I see this time as an opportunity for Lowe and co to properly rejuvenate the team and elevate some more local young talents to follow the footsteps of De Silva, Risdon, Neville, Ruka' and co (Not unlike Edwards' regime). But sadly, that doesn't seem on the horizon - hope I'm wrong.

Great idea

I don't know about other clubs, but CCM started their membership renewals today.

It looks like members who renew early will get their memberships at the 2014/15 price instead of the 2015/16 price.

Almost time for a season 2015/16 membership thread, I want to make some predictions :)

It's easier to maintain a base when you only charge about 60% of what other clubs do.

So it's official Perth have the worst support in Australia this year.
Sage needs to take a good look at what he is doing wrong.

Newcastle have been very resilient in their membership base... I hope their fans stick around.

Shame that it will be highly likely that the gains that Adelaide United make will be offset by the rather expected drop in memberships at Newcastle.

There was a significant gap between SFC and MC not too long ago and now its around equal.

Overall some significant gains, which haven't necessarily added more to attendances on matchdays but gives many clubs better marketing data and an opportunity to build for the future.

Will we break 120K next season? Adelaide United will surely break 10k. Should be aiming for 12K - that will force a rethink of the crowd capacity at Hindmarsh.

^ Problem really may be the Summer heat - hence later kick-offs, not unlike Perth. Player and spectator (Lesser concern lol) safety is still a big consideration, especially with Interest Groups the likes of the PFA involved. Glory finally have some later kick offs, but earlier we ironically suffered with earlier kick-offs, closer to the kind of time-frames you suggest (3-4pm etc), but that was less for local spectator reasons or player welfare, if anything against both at the expense for the much-valued, 'Eastern States' spectators/TV Viewers. I think some more suitable compromise has been reached, through that learned experience. Glory's team and their crowds benefit too, from that.

I suppose you can't win them all, in regards to fixturing, but same time, it doesn't seem unreasonable to have an earlier Sunday kick-off, for you Eastern States folk - you don't have the TV/Time-zone imposition we do? Less... may just be simple factor that 'evening kick-offs' even on Sunday equal, no irony, more TV Viewers again? :-k

Sorry for off-topic convo - On-topic, I just checked the A-League site again and no update of their Member Tally. Not sure if they will do again this season - I presume there might be a final update or two, come end of season. It's in their agenda to eke out as many members as they can, to contribute to their performance outcomes and even PR/Marketing to sponsors and too contributing to bargaining power come TV negotiations. Maybe I over-state, but in any measure, more members, pushing record-levels of members, is only a good thing!

if we had 3pm Sunday games I'd be there each and every time, we have something lile seven 5pm matches. It's just too late to start a game on Sunday, I don't get back home until 10 depending on the trains.

It also includes things like country memberships and some other offers, so it's unlikely to see all those appear at each match.

You could also ask WSW why they have 18k members but often struggle to get 14k at matches.

At the end of the day, what matters most is winning football matches, but what hadn't helped is the 5pm matches on Sunday's. It's just not popular, which further drains possible attendance.

MC have a long way to go to get 10k at each match. It's not going to be an overnight increase, unless we try some other sideshow initiatives like Villa again. Not sure Koren brings that same hype, but I do think we could make more of Kennedy (come see Jesus) :lol:

But I actually expected a bit better from Sydney FC & Brisbane.
After this great season, I expect to see a decent increase for the Nix next season.
