Very sad the membership folk at PG don't know or maybe willing or are allowed to disclose the figure... I renewed my Mariners membership the other day and said to the lady on the phone ... any idea how we are going and she said just under or just past 3K ... I then said can I phone in a couple of weeks and ask and she said fine...
I remember when Nick Tanner was at PG and the club was always on the front foot .... owned its own stadium... great coach arguably one of the top five in the NSL era ... so sad JON and Mark Coral annoyed him so much especially when they have both come out and said the thing we really F****ed PG up ... re the flags and shed stuff in Hal 1 ...
Edited by Midfielder: 6/8/2014 05:39:46 PM I must clarify, I hope I haven't mis-characterised - it wasn't too different for me, in regards to the lady on the phone. I just mean, for exact numbers, more up to date info, the Social Media certainly seems the way to go. That's only from my one single experience and I don't speak for others or their experiences. FTR I don't have Twitter, but somebody asked Brewer once for the membership numbers and that's when he gave a number, last season - the only time Glory announced one all season, through prompting the CEO via Twitter. But again, it's been better this season, on many fronts - including organisation of memberships at a much more earlier, appropriate time and better communication via Social Media including two updates on where our membership numbers are at and how that growth is tracking, relative to last season. So clearly they appreciate the interest there may be in this and how it can positively reflect on the progression of the club. I'm not too au fait with earlier A-League Glory, though sounds quite interesting Midfielder - care to tell us in the PG Supporters Thread? :-k Edited by GloryPerth: 7/8/2014 01:53:38 AM

The roars new membership website is amazing. Goes to show how a bit of independent effort can really improve the experience for your fans. If only they controlled their own ticketing through the same site.
I'd say our membership spike (apart from the success) can be attributed to the part-payment plan that was available. Being able to lock in a membership for $25 and pay it off over the season is a very good deal considering it doesn't cost any extra.
With the club yet to release the 3 game and 7 game "Marquee Match" memberships, we still have a long way to go!
I REALLY hope that the club pushes for a massive range of Merch this year, regardless of who is the kit provider.

I suspect part of the reason PG was ahead of previous season's total is because that last season they were adjusting all the memberships to account for the new stand and stadium configuration.

I know it's been mentioned but Melbourne City have really slowed. A bit dissapointing and hopefully they can still crack 10,000 members. With the rumours/news that the Northern Terrace is back for Victory, their memberships should really benefit and the sky is the limit for their memberships if the buzz is back. Sydney seem be tracking really well of late, over a 100 a day. Look like they won't be losing too many ADP only fans after all, and potentially could gain members if they start being successful again. As for clubs like the Jets & Perth, i feel like they have endured too many poor seasons in a row for people to commit pre season, can see their member numbers dropping overall but should see increased attendances if they have improved.

How will the 110K be made up?
I can see 100k is possible, however I can't see us getting to 110K unless mariners/glory/phoenix pick their game up.

The Phoenix is letting the rest of the league down. If they are still around the 1k mark they are going to be in serious trouble this year. I thought the EPL tour would have pushed fans to become members, considering the success the team had.
I think we'll hit 100k by seasons start, and maybe climb up to 105-110k by the 4th or 5th round.
To put it into some comparison, last season by the 10th of October the member tally was at 85k, that grew by another 9k or so. So it's reasonable to expect us to hit 95k-100k and then climb to possibly 110k.
I think a lot will depend on the arrival of Villa and possibly i high profile WSW marquee player. Both will provide plenty of attention in the media which can only help memberships as a whole.

Compared to exactly this point in time last year we are tracking at a 12% increase. This time last year we had 56,900 members. So far this year we're over 64k.

Edited by schultzy: 7/8/2014 04:38:59 PM Gee, given the context, AU's progress IS good! Gombau and co starting to kick in? :) Davo1985 wrote:The Phoenix is letting the rest of the league down. I strongly suspect that Phoenix are just one of that minority who are still too infrequent with their member numbers updates? They surely saw a mini-boon circa and after the EPL visits - even if that only translated to a few hundred more than otherwise? Also, given the fact they had more at this point last season, I think it can be safe to presume they should be closer to that mark (3k I think it was), or atleast 2k, by now? Agreed about continuing growth into the season, we've seen that before and as many of you have speculated, the impact of Marquees, lead by Villa (Ok, he's a 'Guest Player'), may not truly hit home till they've literally hit these shores - like when ADP was mobbed at Sydney airport? The likes of Janko and Koren may not be the most illustrious names, but we all sense that on the field they could impact for their clubs and so the knock-on there too, could be promising. Same with Flores and the like too, hopefully? Edited by GloryPerth: 7/8/2014 05:45:33 PM

Jets, Victory, Wanderers and Sydney have all jumped a lot of late.

BTW The Glory figure is from via 'FromTheStands'? I guess somebody asked Glory/Membership Dept./Brewer? Nate wrote:I suspect part of the reason PG was ahead of previous season's total is because that last season they were adjusting all the memberships to account for the new stand and stadium configuration. Indeed. It was apparently an anomalous time, with the bad organisation and big delay. So naturally there would be an improve. Still remember f1dave and others mentioning a couple seasons ago, how they didn't get their renewal notices till days out from renewal deadline. And a few of us chuckled when our our AMF Bowling discounts or whatever they were, had already long expired! Things seem alot better this season. In regards to trying measure just how much Glory's membership levels have improved or what not, it seems hard to tell - except from what Glory themselves have told us? Whatever growth there is, does kind of seem to be coming from a relatively low base - but despite that, it's still all good and the club may hopefully still push to a member level (7k?) that, as far as I know, they haven't achieved during their A-League years, at the least? If that can do that, then that would be mighty impressive, especially given where they were coming from, last season? :-k Edited by GloryPerth: 7/8/2014 06:00:14 PM

I tried to work it out for you, and had to be quite optomistic to reach the target, none i don't believe is ridiculous but they are all a little bit of a stretch: Adelaide United: 4,800 - 7,500 (AU had 8k members, for atleast one season, a few seasons ago? Ashnak and co can confirm - but tbh that probably included all kinds of memberships, including Flexis)Brisbane Roar: 9,087 - 13,000 (Roar's Target was 10k last season and they seem set to hit that. 12k or so seems appropriate?)Central Coast Mariners: 3,100 - 5,000 (Official Target - From last season)Melbourne City: 6,418 - 11,000Melbourne Victory: 12,589 - 24,000 (23k was their official target, last season)Newcastle Jets: 6,000 - 11,000 (11k = around the club record, set a couple seasons ago?)Perth Glory : 3,800 - 6,500 (This seems about right, AFAIK Glory's best is around this mark?)Sydney FC: 6,906 - 12,000 (IIRC Sydney FC's 'Goal' last season was 10k and they exceeded that. It will surely be higher this season, so 12k seems appropriate target)Wellington Phoenix: 1,000 - 4,000 (IIRC Phoenix did indeed have a 4k target, last season?)Western Sydney Wanderer: 10,919 - 16,000
Total = 64,619 - 110,000 None of the clubs have been public in-regards to any Targets or Goals they've set. I can understand some not seeking to limit themselves, given the impressive growth last season and following into this season. But would still be curious to see just how far the likes of Roar, SFC, perhaps City, Victory and others, project themselves as realistically achieving? Clearly there will be upwardly revised targets for Roar, SFC and City this season. Mariners JUST reached their 5k target last season, that's IIRC? But Phoenix, as far as Yellow Fever's updates were concerned, ended up 3,400 or so. It makes sense if Mariners, Phoenix, Glory and Jets are still striving to meet previous targets or club records achieved seasons ago. AU Seem a variable - I'm not sure when the last time they announced a target was? :-k But internally the club record may well be around that 7-8k mark and they could be on-track to meet push that? IF they can somehow hit 8-9k members for their lil ole Hindmarsh stadium, then that would really demonstrate the turn-around AU has seen! So 'perhaps' tweak it a bit? Take 1k off Victory's target and add 500 to AU and 500 to Wanderers - given the latter maxxed out around 16,500 last season? :-k Edited by GloryPerth: 7/8/2014 06:22:02 PM
