Disgraceful Rofl listen to this bloke, both are growing slowly in a suffocated AFL market. As far as Adelaide goes, the fact that we are WELL ABOVE any previous membership totals at this time is an absolute testiment to the state of the club atm, particularly following the success the AFL have had at AO this year... this year the AFL have posted 9 x 50k + games, following 5 x 50k at aami over 23 years. AO has been a huge success, and I'm led to believe that that success is about to play a huge part in some very substantial developments in the CBD. AFL is at an all time high here, and for AUFC to be posting record numbers, that is extremely impressive. Also its a bit rich really coming from a heart/city/whatever fan, we havent got no sugar daddy coming in to buy peoples interest.

Growth has really slowed... and 100k by kickoff i would suggest is looking unlikely. Hopefully Villa ariving and once AFL/NRL finishes up there will be a bit of a boom.

MCMH wrote:Can someone please provide an explanation as to why Adelaide and Perth have horrible membership numbers for a major city and only team in that city? Disgraceful Well, I'm a relatively new fan, so I can't speak for Glory too well, going right back to their Glory Days, in the NSL (Though I 'suspect' Glory's member-base was never too high - Glory Days = alot of 'Walk Ups' and sometimes 'Free Ticket' initiatives?). My memory not serving me well, but as long as we've been measuring on FFT, I think Glory's member-base has been no higher than 5.5/6k? So, for starters, even being able to measure Glory's member-base is like extracting blood from stone, as we've well covered. In terms of measuring from the little numbers/estimates we have received - that's still a steady, solid base and one borne from a long-term, relatively successful club and one entrenched in the community. 5-6k for a club who's largely been in struggle street most of it's A-League existence can be seen either way - still good, considering (Including lack of on-field success, member stuff ups last season, Sage controversies - Edwards etc...), or still not great considering the City size and Glory's own history of success and heady times? Let's look at it another way - Glory may be perennial under-achievers in the A-League. They can still be considered a kind of sleeping mini-giant in a way and if they do pull their fingers out, get organised and catch a headwind, then they could easily meet their Glory Days but do a bit better even (Under Edwards, crowds were averaging 10k!), with the great stadium, A-League appeal and stronger culture of memberships (Larger cores of support). Otherwise, people in glass houses... or what Schultzy said. :p Davo1985 wrote:I think i mentioned it here the other day that i had approached Peter Kapsanis about their numbers.
Got the reply from the CEO on friday and that's what he came back with. Can someone please show me where the FFA discloses club figures.
No offence GloryPerth but your club is appalling at communicating with the fans. What sort of response is that. All i wanted was an update for all of us. So either they are lying or they really don't want to disclose numbers. He could have easily done me the favour.
I think i may continue to pest them until they either block me or disclose the number. It's poor form from Glory. It's not hard to be a lil more open with your potential members. Again, I can't really defend Glory here, especially while their rivals are 'doing it soo much better'. There's also a case of moving from a low base with Glory - so as some fans may tell you, it's actually 'relatively better' than what it has been even just a few years ago. Brewer and others are relatively accessible, thanks to Social Media, compared to those before them. They don't need to be too shy about their numbers - because as they've shown before, including Brewer himself and others - Glory's member-base is still respectably solid. If it's still a 5-6k base, then that's nothing to sneeze at and plenty to build upon. Hopefully they can surprise us, with another update on their great progress on the membership front - how they are ' 20% up on where they were, this point last year' or 'have a new club record number of memberships' or something. Latter seems achievable, given how they suggested they were tracking before and too the fact their memberships better organised this year and the great stadium these days. In theory there should easily/automatically be 6-7k people wanting to commit, just for that! Edited by GloryPerth: 10/9/2014 05:54:27 AM

Im pretty sure our 2013-14 total still eclipses anything you've ever had..... But thats alright,

I personally don't agree with that, with the right marquees and pushing of the limits of the cap I beleive that it is possible to buy the league. but more importantly your lot are buying names which is the only reason your membership numbers are soaring. On last years totals the membership totals were approximately equivalent, noone apart from the FFA knows for sure the exact figures, but if your gonna get petty should we discuss your total attendances (NON derby) in a city of 5m? Seriously grow up and just be happy that the league as a whole is on the way up.

Okay so compared to last years figures we are still tracking very nicely despite slowing up in recent weeks.
This time exactly last year on the 9/9/2013 we had a total of 67,354. So we're still 14k in front of that mark. Also to note that at the same point from last year, we got another 19k by round 1 of the season on the 11th of October.
So all other variables being equal, it wouldn't be unrealistic if we signed up another 19k this year too. Doing so would bring us to 100k by round 1! Now that would be an awesome headline.
However it would be wise to lean towards a more conservative figure and say we will probably sign another 15k. In that event we should still hit our overall total for last year before a ball has even been kicked.
Pretty impressive!

Can someone provide club by club stats? Most of this growth, I'd suspect is coming from from Fart/Shitty who are buying their support.

So some fantastic gains for Brisbane and City, followed by Adelaide and Sydney.
West Sydney can't grow any higher and for now we have no real comparative data for Perth.
So 4 clubs are growing convincingly and 2 are stable in WSW and Victory. The only losers are Mariners and Newcastle.
Although Wellington have actually increased, their base is so small and their growth is so insignificant, that the fact they have remained stable is almost like a loss, all things considered.

It's just soo pleasing to see those two clubs starting to fulfil their potential/their market's potential. Now if only Glory could do the same. A number of the clubs, big and small, are getting much nearer to their targets or potential threshold limits, so to speak? There isn't that much more room left, for growth - though again we're aren't sure just when City's growth will pull up, but I still suspect the speculated impact of Villa's arrival, stint, may be somewhat over-stated. Guess we can only tell once he arrives and try to measure what affect that actually has on the numbers. AU, Roar, Mariners, Jets, Glory, Phoenix and Wanderers are all near their peak and we shouldn't expect to see any more than additional thousand on each of their figures.

I don't see where there are any communication problems with Glory. Us fans get fed factual, reliable, believable information constantly via their facebook:
Perth Glory September 6 FULL TIME| PGFC finish the match strong despite going down 3-0 in a friendly against Melbourne Victory. Next stop St Albans Saints in the FFA cup. #notgivingin
