Some nice big jumps overnight from the 2 melbourne teams and fc.

Should see City hit 8k within the next day or two and Sydney FC to hit 10k by Thursday or Friday.

I wonder if we'll have any marquees/stalls from our merch and membership department tonight? Might rope in a few dozen members and push us to 10k before the weekend, would be absolutely fantastic if we could go on to 11k+ after how shite the last 2 years have been plus no ADP!

I thought we might struggle this season, but we look set to go above 20K again. And this is with City increasing their numbers too.

Really great to see.

Man disappointed A-League membership numbers not affected by two angry tweets
By Joey Crews
Updated: September 11, 2014

Bewildered and struggling for answers, 24-year-old Victorian man Pavli Baris told reporters Wednesday he felt two aggressive posts he made on microblogging platform Twitter in July would’ve left the A-League struggling to attract interest in the upcoming season.

Speaking from his Dandenong home after the A-League announced 13% membership growth versus the same point last year, Mr Baris said he’s devastated by the news, adding it will take some time for him to truly comprehend what’s happened.

“I posted two tweets targeting the FFA and A-League Twitter accounts, which read “Fuck the FFA, we need to boycott” and “The A-League is shit, it’s doesn’t respect football or culture” respectively.

“At the time, I naturally assumed these tweets would be seen by the larger sports-going public, significantly influencing their decision to purchase or renew their memberships for the next season; my friend Bruce from Sydney re-tweeted them, and he’s got 300 followers, so that just reinforced my belief my tweets would result in lower membership figures.

“Obviously I’m quite disappointed and confused by what’s happened.”

Mr Baris concluded that others on social media who feel their angry tweeting will actually amount to something will feel let down by this unexpected turn of events.

“When you post on social media, you believe you’re making a difference, so when it turns out you don’t, that can be rather deflating.

“I urge other fans out there not to give up – I wasn’t so lucky, but perhaps your angry post will be the one which makes a difference.”

Just to re-iterate, Melbourne Victory's 'Member Target' has been 23k since last season. They didn't quite reach it last season (What DID they get - 21k or so?! :? ) - but they seem on-track to do so this season, if rates keep up and late-comers/limited-game members, give it one final push.

IMO, there is a big chance more than half the competition will have 10,000+ members by season's end. Victory, WSW, Roar are already there with City, Sydney and hopefully Newcastle to come around.

BR, MC and ADL are the big gainers, MV and SFC showing solid growth on already rather large membership bases, WSW can't really grow.

NJ, WP and PG. All slightly down, but that is somewhat expected since they've all been rather disappointing on the field for a few seasons. I thought the EPL preseason tour would've helped WP more since it seemed rather successful but maybe it just bucked the downward trend they've been on for a while.

CCM I have no idea why they are so down. If its to protest the owner who is thinking about moving the club I couldn't think of a better way to tell him to move it than by not supporting the club.

^ You stats certainly reflect the good progress (Roar 100%, City 50%+ - woah ), but also the stagnation of the smaller clubs some of us discussed (Mariners, Jets, Glory and Phoenix, just barely tracking with their numbers last season) and AU certainly seem the surprise, but I think the 4,132 number from 2013/14 pre-season may have context - We're not sure exactly when that number was updated - it may already have been an 'old' figure for 24/10/2013, where as the 6,118 figure quite recent, within a week? So reading between the lines, depending how old that 4,1k figure is relative to 24/10/13, the 'real' 24/10/13 figure for AU might be as high as in the 5k's as we remember it wasn't till very recently, with the A-League.com.au's weekly update, that we finally got constant and reliable membership number updates, across the board.

FTR I'm pleased that PG are/were only -2% behind, given the off-field controversies and how poorly we did, last season. We're pretty much tracking the same, minus the excitement/anticipation of the Edwards era. I think the finished/revamped stadium combined with better organised (Much earlier) memberships, as too greater variety of member packs (New 5-Game Flexi Pack!) - have certainly helped their cause alot! All they need is on-field results, bonus of attractive play and good young West Aussies coming through and skies are looking up! :)

Indeed that's certainly impressive, isn't it! Roar and City the new boys in the club and from the bunch, the Jets have a challenge on their hands to reach that mark, but they still may, hopefully!

Curious, no update, as expected, today (Wed 24/09/14)? :-k

Guess we stay tuned for tomorrow? I'm sure Davo, Tambo or some of you will update with the new data, once they do post it on the official site, but on my side I'll paste the image here, in this post, once I eventually get around to seeing it, tomorrow (Won't be till late tomorrow evening FTR). It's understandable there some kind of break or bureaucratic hold up in momentum - this running tally a new thing for them and wouldn't be surprised if there some late submissions, or technical glitches or on clubs end, perhaps another wave of demand as season edges nearer, holding things up or making it harder for a reliable number update?

Was just checking some stats from last year.

Between this date 25/9/13 and the end of last season, 18825 memberships were sold across the clubs.

If that is repeated this year, we will certainly end up with more than 100,000 a- league members. In fact, we might actually get over 105k. That's not far off the FFA target of 110k.

Unfortunately at the moment the Mariners, Jets and Wellington are now slightly behind last year's numbers. Mariners are about 500 behind, the Jets are about 400 behind, and Wellington is about 100 behind.

At the season launch last night the CEO mentioned something about having 20k members this season. I'm not sure what he meant by that.
