The largest crowd at AAMI Park was about 600 short of capacity and there was some spare seats in the corp[orate section.

So have member numbers exceeded last years yet/on track to?

Definitely. Last year about 94k memberships were sold in total. This season, almost 90k have already been sold and nobody's kicked a ball yet.

The growth has been a tad uneven though. Wellington, the Mariners and the Jets are slightly behind and Perth is roughly par. Wanderers are already maxed out again. So it's the other five clubs that are really driving it at the moment.

Brisbane Roar and Melbourne City have already exceeded their total membership numbers from last season, 3 weeks before season starts, which is very impressive.

Adelaide United are only 100 short of achieving this as well. Sydney FC are only 700 short. Both should exceed their previous season total before this season starts.

Sydney FC are also about to crack 10k in the next few days. Last season we reached that figure on the first day of the season, so we're already a few weeks ahead, which is excellent considering all the bad blood after last year. SFC sold barely any memberships during the actual season last year due to all the turmoil, so hopefully a better on-field performance will drive growth further.

Victory are about 1000 ahead of where they were this time last last year. I think they could feasibly get to their 23k target, especially now all the Northern Terrace stuff got fixed up.

If the Mariners and Jets get to where they were last year, the league should be somewhere in the 105k range on current trends by season end.

Forgot to mention - if Melbourne City sell another 2000 memberships between now and season end, we'll have 5 a-league clubs with 10,000 members. And if Newcastle can repeat last year's figure, we'll have 6. Which would be huge IMO.

Newcastle will not. Many people are disenchanted with the club

He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

Not to mention the complete fluff the admin has made in regards to Tinkles.

Not sure if you were reffering to that or it's mismanagement of the fans.

In either case don't see it happening.

Ok guys, update with new tally - seems they did indeed update it a day late and interestingly, with no associated press release/article on it. Here it is, one from today furtherest down:

They're probably waiting until they kit 90k memberships before they make the announcement. They're about 1500 short of that number right now.

10658 was the SFC number from last year, so only another 600 or so needed.

There's a SFC family fun day on tomorrow so hopefully we can sign up a few more.

Nice should make that by round 1 easy, 11k each for Sydney and Roar will happen, 12k not so sure about. I should just be happy with 10k lol, but love just seeing growth from any Club.

Sky Blues Break 10,000 Barrier

Sydney FC has reached the 10,000 Member mark for the second consecutive year

Sydney FC has breached the 10,000 Members mark for the second successive season and the Sky Blues are on course for another record breaking number.

This is the first time in the history of the club that we have reached this milestone so early, with over two weeks to go before the start of the Hyundai A-League 2014/15 season.

Last year we enjoyed record numbers across the board with 10,841 Members signing up and over 8000 Junior Blues registering themselves with the club, and we are confident we will break that record again.

So get on board and help us break it and surpass the 11,000 Members mark!

With more and more Members signing up, we can expect an even more vibrant and passionate atmosphere at our games this season.

Chief Executive Officer Tony Pignata expressed his delight at breaking the 10,000 Members barrier for a second year in a row and encouraged more fans to get on board ahead of an exciting new season.

“It’s a fantastic achievement to break 10,000 Members again this season,” Pignata said.

“It’s a testament to the growth of the Hyundai A-League and Sydney FC and I welcome everyone to Allianz Stadium.

“The atmosphere at Sydney FC games last season was phenomenal and I implore as many fans as possible to become Members and join in turning Allianz Stadium into a sea of Sky Blue,” he continued.

“Thank you to everyone who has signed up and I look forward to seeing you at Moore Park this season.”

Sky Blues fans can sign up for a full Sydney FC adult Membership for as little as $215, while concessions can be bought for $170.

Blockbuster packs for the opening four home games of the season against Melbourne City, Western Sydney Wanderers, Central Coast Mariners and Melbourne Victory are available starting at just $110 for adults and $85 for concessions.

Come and see your Sky Blues heroes at Sydney FC’s Fan Day on Saturday 4 October at Allianz Stadium, then we’ll see you a week later for the first home game of the Hyundai A-League 2014/15 season, when Sydney FC face Melbourne City - Saturday 11 October - kick off 7:30pm.

We can’t wait for it to start and look forward to seeing and hearing you there. We Are Sydney #SydneyIsSkyBlue.

GET YOUR MEMBERSHIP NOW! – Get in quick and make sure you don’t miss a moment of Sky Blues action this 2014/15 Hyundai A-League season by purchasing your Sydney FC Membership now. Sydney could get to 12k if the standard of our football improves. I think there's a few people still a bit cagey out there, and might be waiting for the first few rounds before they commit.

It's so great to see 4 clubs with more than 10,000 members though. I'm really happy to see Brisbane finally do so well, it's a massive vote of confidence from the people up there.

Agreed on all points, the only thing im afraid of is, from pre season form for Roar is not living up to the new members that have signed up etc. We wont be coming out kicking ass, left our pre season late and it shows, just hope we dont lose the people we just gained etc.

Joffa, does this mean you will now update your first post in this thread regarding 2013-14 membership figures?

Brisbane Roar: 8,100 -> 8,112
Sydney FC: 10,658 -> 10,841

Last year total A-League membership was 96,641. Updating Brisbane and Sydney, 96,175 members are accounted for, with 466 still unaccounted.

Ill be interested to see the membership numbers once all the improvements to hindmarsh are complete. Surely membership numbers are somewhat effected by the condition of the stadium and the facilities available. Im not saying this directly in response to hindmarsh, as I've only been there once, but just as a generalised statement. If word got around that the stadium was a lot better and amenities were improved then surely that would make people more likely to turn up? Certainly there is potential there to have a membership base in excess of 10K though.

Hopefully the Roar wont have a shit season. It will be more competitive this time around, that's for sure. The trick is finding a way of increasing membership numbers no matter how the team performs on the pitch.
