Just in-regards to Adelaide United and that stated 10k target I keep referring to, here's one source for it, from last season:

http://www.adelaideunited.com.au/article/10000-for-10000-members/199813fr1gzxo1d1n5wt63mlu4

It certainly seemed a little, 'ambitious' to a few of us, but given their gains this season, taking them to a new club record - suddenly reaching 10k members isn't that far off! As Schultzy and some other AU fans have suggested - perhaps not this season, but given the trend, reaching 10k come next season's membership campaign is starting to seem quite possible. Especially given the example set by Roar and their gains past couple seasons!

7 of 10 clubs at record numbers now. Crazy good.

Perth potentially to come?

Also worth nothing that victory previous best numbers were when there was no heart/city.

So essentially you can say melbourne members have grown from 22k to 33k.... 50% growth and I would be expecting another k or 2 between the two.

Melbourne Victory breaks membership record

As the A-League revels in the glow of a bumper start to its season in terms of interest and attendance over the first two rounds, Melbourne Victory today announced it has registered a record membership.

24 Oct 2014 - 4:43 PM UPDATED 1 HOUR AGO

Club chairman Anthony Di Pietro said the nation’s biggest club in terms of members was now bigger still, with 22,611 signing up to support the club, exceeding the previous record mark of 22,600 set in the 2007/2008 season.

“There is great momentum at our club at the present time with strong early results on the ground, a great attendance at our first home game of the season and now a record membership total in a year that we are excited to be celebrating our 10th year in the Hyundai A-League as a foundation club,” Di Pietro said via a Victory statement.

“The great support of our members will again be evident when a capacity crowd is expected to attend our blockbuster Melbourne Derby on Saturday night at Etihad Stadium.

“We value enormously the extraordinary contribution our members make to our club including the great atmosphere and passion they generate at our games, which I know inspires the players each week.

“Despite achieving a club record, we have not yet reached our season’s membership target so I encourage all Melbourne Victory fans who are not members to join the club and secure the best seat in the house at both Etihad Stadium and AAMI Park for the remainder of the season.”

I was in the Platinum members area ,which I understood to be sold out months ago. There were empty seats everywhere. It's hard to work out the Brisbane mentality.I heard that maybe many people were saving their night out for the Four Nations League over the weekend.Which seems logical. Most people aren't going to go to Suncorp for two days in a row.So if that is the reason the crowd could be considered good, because some league followers chose Football over Four Nations and maybe some members chose their night out to be at the League.

Indeed and same could be and has been said of Glory (by me :p)! Except, AU have much better, more promising, fundamentals and their growth trajectory heading that way too, during this Gombau era. So not only could it go through the roof, but it could virtually sustain at a slightly higher level, than now. Because, again, the fundamentals, solid foundation, is there - A stable club, ownership now, increasing memberships, and a strong core crowd, steadily growing. Gombau and his AU team's, their form and performance, stimulate on-top of this.

Where-as with Glory, there's still some fundamentals needing improving, still variables and uncertainty - the ownership is certainly long-term/'stable' - but the latter is still Tony Sage we're talking here and some of the poor decisions of even recent past, if not all down to he, then some shared with CEOs/Club Management and Head Coaches too. So I feel there can be a risk of 'boom and bust' here if and when there are more 'blow ins' who quite simply/easily 'blow out' again. There hasn't yet been the 'ambitious membership drive' here, either, for some bizarre or not soo bizarre reason - compared to almost everywhere else in the league - including AU's goal for 10k members. Glory are improving though (on and off field), but just at their own, gentle pace.

Nah, measurably factor in the Mariners as the next to push their club record (Set last season). They're only a couple hundred or so off that total now and come next Home game, expect them to do so. Will be curious to see too, if Phoenix, now they're in club record territory, will actually hit their 4k target, set last season - again, they're only just less than three hundred from that mark too.

In Glory's case, I think we're the anomaly - don't rule us in or out, as we're on our own planet over here! As far as info or whatever - no idea as of yet, as to what Perth Glory's membership record is, nor what their internal membership targets are, let alone a public/external target! '5k' is just extrapolated from the '5k cap' we saw and had filled, circa the time that Perth Oval's capacity was severely reduced for the upgrades we see in-place now. But it can be easily presumed the member record is above that - but if it's only hundreds more or a couple thousand more, no idea. Glory also unique in terms of it's NSL history and 'Glory Days' there, though apparently most in the big crowds there were walk-ins and even a fair few 'Freebies' via promotions and even what Sage touched on in a recent TWG interview - Free Ticket offers distributed via Tana's Chicken Treat Franchises! So, if anything, it appears Glory's history somewhat inflated by that side of things, but still, the base was impressive, drawing an average approx 12-13k fans over there Glory Days period.

But in-short, as a guesstimation pulled out of me rear - if Glory somehow surpass 6k then that's entering good territory for the club and must be pushing club record territory.

Good point over Victory/City - Certainly 'growth on growth' there, in that market! 33k-odd 'collective A-League members' in the Melbourne market there!

Will be a huge challenge for clubs like BR or MC to maintain the solid results achieved this year if they don't get results this year.

Big growth for both this year based on success for BR and the hype around "new" MC drove that interest, but given both clubs have had big setbacks so far, one can only hope the season has better things ahead for both.

It's a common link that success = interest, so whoever has a bad year is in the back foot, but certain markets/clubs are more at risk than others.
