Glory's most significant competitor, Perth Wildcats, have over 9,000 members now, for instance. What are the prices like for memberships? If you continue playing well this season and have a finals run you could push for close to 10k next season. $275 for silver/Terrace/Shed memberships, up to around $400-500 for the decent sideline seats and I think $725 for the platinum memberships. Only major sporting team in WA not to include public transport, however.

Small gains. I'm more interested if Newcastle can get over the line. FTR Davo's updates are better than the FFA's.

Just curious - seems the Membership Tally on the A-League.com.au website has taken a spell this week. I suppose we shouldn't be surprised, with growth peaked and Christmas around the corner. Could be another mini-spike come the limited game Christmas/Summer Holiday member packs on-offer though. The Mariners have for instance stated they hope such packs will take them beyond 6k. I guess the next update circa next year?

All we're doing is inflating the figures to make us seem bigger. No doubt huge improvement from last year but I reckon the full season ticket passes got us to about 105k. I'm not going to take much notice on any further increases the clubs want brag about. So next season our target to beat by week 6 should be 105k. That will give us a clearer indication of full season support.

I'm not sure when this update was uploaded, I only saw it a couple days ago - But I haven't been checking as regularly during this holiday period - so we can say it appeared anywhere been mid-Jan to couple days ago? So that may be how 'up-to-date' the figures are? Congratulations to Glory for smashing their previous member record (Whatever that was exactly) - Gives them a strong base to build even higher the next coming seasons, just as we've seen Adelaide United, Brisbane Roar and some others do. Wow. Our previous record was 6.5k. To nearly crack 9k is amazing.
Who knows. With a title win we might crack 10 next year! :P

An awesome membership tally all round! But I actually expected a bit better from Sydney FC & Brisbane. After this great season, I expect to see a decent increase for the Nix next season.

grazorblade wrote:How do city have 11k members and not have 11k show up each week It also includes things like country memberships and some other offers, so it's unlikely to see all those appear at each match. You could also ask WSW why they have 18k members but often struggle to get 14k at matches. At the end of the day, what matters most is winning football matches, but what hadn't helped is the 5pm matches on Sunday's. It's just not popular, which further drains possible attendance. MC have a long way to go to get 10k at each match. It's not going to be an overnight increase, unless we try some other sideshow initiatives like Villa again. Not sure Koren brings that same hype, but I do think we could make more of Kennedy (come see Jesus)

It's just too late to start a game on Sunday, I don't get back home until 10 depending on the trains.

^ Problem really may be the Summer heat - hence later kick-offs, not unlike Perth. Player and spectator (Lesser concern lol) safety is still a big consideration, especially with Interest Groups the likes of the PFA involved. Glory finally have some later kick offs, but earlier we ironically suffered with earlier kick-offs, closer to the kind of time-frames you suggest (3-4pm etc), but that was less for local spectator reasons or player welfare, if anything against both at the expense for the much-valued, 'Eastern States' spectators/TV Viewers. I think some more suitable compromise has been reached, through that learned experience. Glory's team and their crowds benefit too, from that.
I suppose you can't win them all, in regards to fixturing, but same time, it doesn't seem unreasonable to have an earlier Sunday kick-off, for you Eastern States folk - you don't have the TV/Time-zone imposition we do? Less... may just be simple factor that 'evening kick-offs' even on Sunday equal, no irony, more TV Viewers again? :-k
Sorry for off-topic convo - On-topic, I just checked the A-League site again and no update of their Member Tally. Not sure if they will do again this season - I presume there might be a final update or two, come end of season. It's in their agenda to eke out as many members as they can, to contribute to their performance outcomes and even PR/Marketing to sponsors and too contributing to bargaining power come TV negotiations. Maybe I over-state, but in any measure, more members, pushing record-levels of members, is only a good thing!

Well, seems somebody, over at the A-League.com.au website, is back from holidays - their member tally has just been updated, quite recently. Not sure how up-to-date this is, but no more than the past few days or so: Source: www.A-League.com.auEdited by GloryPerth: 2/3/2015 02:48:48 PM
