Most telling thing about that goal..? The celebration. Never a team so close to their coach. Love him or hate him, Fergie has his team in the palm of his hand.

Fergie deserved a bit of a hug for giving RVP that much gametime during his barren run. It's a great deal of faith to play him back into form, I think RVP appreciates that too.

I've spent most of my life as a goalkeeper, yes there is some skill from penalty kicks, but it's a spot kick. It's not a 30 yard stunner or an overhead kick, or a tap in from intricate work up play, like everyones making it seem. It's a dead ball situation with no defenders between you and the keeper.

It only has significance because it ended a goal scoring drought.

Then you should know better.

Good goals are not limited to the spectacular. A penalty is as much a mental game as it is physical, RVP executed a great penalty that had a perfect combination of power and placement - Begovic got the direction right and still couldn't get a hand to it. With the weight of his goal drought on his mind, it was an even better goal.

I just know that I've conceeded significantly more than I've saved from a spot kick. You're expected to score from the spot. The fap fest over van Persie scoring a penalty is ridiculous.

The only reason people are jizzing over it is because Van Persie ended his scoring drought. Don't get my wrong, it's a fantastic penalty. Right in the corner, impossible to save. But if anyone else did it, no one would be fapping about it. At the end of the day, it's a brilliant spot-kick, but nothing more than that. Give me a Tugay special any day of the week :cool:
