At the moment the Women's World Cup is a bit of a mystery, its a great event, but not many people are as aware of it

Even though some country's women's team qualify whereas the men's dont (and vice versa), perhaps they should hold the Women's World Cup on at the same time as the Men's World Cup. If anything- the women's matches can serve to be a curtain raiser to the men's matches?

You dont see a male and female Olympics now do you? :-k

I definitely think this would be a good idea, and would get the women's game much more exposure with minimum impact to the men's World Cup. Perhaps the semis and final at least should be held in different venues though because you'd think more people would want to come to that.

More should definitely be done for the womens game. Im probably not alone in saying Id definitely watch it if it was more accessible.

But in before this thread is full of sexist comments

Yep it's something I'd get into but not as accessible as a stand alone event, this would help hype each up.

You're a clown.

Full house attendances at the last Women's world cup and cracking games suggest otherwise.

As for the Women's World Cup IMO it should be a stand alone event for the prestige.

Not to mention from a logistics viewpoint it would be very iffy to have them together. Fields, separate supporters, accommodation etc etc.

Should stay a separate event

I believe the WWC has much more interest and exposure than the OP cares to give credit.

By putting the two together the women's version goes from being a prestigious stand alone event with 100% of the fans and ratings - to a curtain raiser that nobody outside of the stadium will see due to the overlap of game times (ie- the second WWC game will overlap with the first MWC game)

Perhaps the interest hasn't been recognisable in Australia but the last cup in Germany was a very big success. Plus they're expanding it to 24 teams next year I believe. This will bring a few more minnows and higher scorelines but like the Rugby world cup, it's the best way forward.

The Women's world cup is a pretty successful tournament in its own right. Making it a curtain-raiser event would unnecessarily undermine its current status imo.

Not at all, the WWC is a very important football tournament in its own right that stands on its own two feet.

If anything, it's actually quite a sexist suggestion IMO. (I'm not offended though  ).

I think it'd be a good idea to play one or two W-League matches as curtain raisers for HAL matches - for cross promotional purposes - but overall the WWC and W-League need to stand on their own two feet.
