Rickie Lambert is a good case in point about improving at an older age.

The Frenchman said he was too old to go on loan, I thought it was a silly statement. I agree. Ill repost my response, i still stand by it. Well, too old to go out on loan for development reasons, its conditional. At 25 you shouldn't really be sent out by your club to develop more or to show them something else. They should know you by then and you should just be coming in to your prime. Thats what i was pointing to, not just too old in general. As I've said before a loan for form gaining reason, like the one listed above, is fine. This is common practice, even for players older than Kruse. My point was directed at him being taken on loan for development reasons. Players never stop developing aspects of their game. They may not improve their technique after a while, but players are always developing even if at a slower rate. In the end, they probably would have sold him this season but for the fact he'd be worth bugger all due to last season. A good year out on loan will drive up his price for next summer.

Gareth Barry is no spring chicken, but his loan to Everton last season was a brilliant success, with him displaying some great form.

He may not be developing a better technique, but players don't go on loan to learn better technique. Potential usually stops and overall starts decreasing at around 30. Quite annoying sometimes and then I can't get a decent transfer fee for them. #-o :(

Would be a great move and as stated in that article they do need a replacement for Muller, hope it happens.

By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

I would have thought a weak buli side would be a good enough challenge

Would either be a B1 team with no chance of climbing the ladder or a B2 team. Cant see him straying too far from Germany as I'm sure they will want to keep tabs on him. He is a bit old to go out on loan though, although they know what he's capable of so i guess this is more to get him up to form. Not sure he's ever going to be anything other than second or third choice though, they do have a very large stock of capable attackers. A year loan could do him the world of good though and he could come back better than ever and fight for his spot next season, or he could go down the Ruka path.

Robbie has produced goals, assists and quality in the Bundesliga. Can't see him dropping much lower

He shouldn't find it too hard to find a club in Europe that would value his services on loan.
