The sad thing is, over the last 4 years, the club HASN'T been better than that result. Since Ellis Short took control in 2009 he's sacked 4 managers in 5 years, 3 of which he appointed.

Last summer we signed 14 new players - none of whom Di Canio had asked for.

This summer, Poyet started by saying he wanted to sign quality not quantity, then proceeded to sign 9 players, to add to the 5 he brought in last January. Of the 5 he signed last year - the best left at the end of his loan spell and wasn't re-signed, the other four were average at best - only 1 is still in the first team (he's the one who volleyed Southampton's opener on Saturday). Of the 9 he signed this year - none have looked particularly flash, and the most expensive (Rodwell) has already been dropped.

We're setting ourselves up for disaster - and I'm not a doom-and-gloomer... When it comes to my club I'm usually the guy arguing that 2-0 down with 20 minutes to go isn't that bad, grab one now and we'll have them in trouble until the final whistle, etc.
