I know a few people who keep them for protection but they're mostly in security, armed guard, former police, that kind of thing. It's more professional hazard stuff than anything else.

I used to do archery so I've got a Class A weapon licence. But I have nowhere secure to keep a gun so I don't own one currently.

It's not exactly rocket science to convert a semi-auto rifle to be full-auto either.

In America I don't doubt it (depending on particulars of the action etc) but in Australia not so much and wouldn't be worth the drama to have it.
