Hahahaha... Whoever came up with this idea is a god-damn genius... Although they are apparently banned, and caused an in-flight fight... http://www.theguardian.com/business/2014/aug/26/plane-diverted-as-passengers-fight-over-seat-recliningQuote:A plane in the US had to be diverted and two passengers removed after one of them started a fight by using a banned device to stop the seat in front reclining.
The spat began on United Airlines flight 1462 because one passenger was using the Knee Defender, a $21.95 lock that attaches to a tray table and jams the reclining mechanism of the seat in front.
The male passenger, seated in a middle seat of row 12, used the device to stop the woman in front of him reclining while he was on his laptop, according to a law enforcement official who spoke on condition of anonymity.
A flight attendant asked him to remove the device and he refused. The woman then stood up, turned around and threw a cup of water at him, the official said.
The dispute on the service from Newark to Denver escalated to the point that the airline decided to divert to Chicago’s O’Hare international airport, according to Transportation Security Administration spokesman Ross Feinstein.
Chicago police and TSA officers met the flight, spoke to the passengers — a man and a woman, both 48 — and “deemed it a customer service issue”, Feinstein said. The TSA would not name the passengers.
The plane then continued to Denver without them, arriving an hour and 38 minutes late, according to the airline’s website.
Both passengers had been sitting in United’s “economy plus” section, which advertises four more inches of legroom.
The Federal Aviation Administration leaves it up to individual airlines to set rules about the device. United Airlines says it prohibits its use, like all major US airlines. Spirit Airlines and Allegiant Air take the reclining mechanisms out of their seats, leaving them permanently upright.
The FAA can impose a civil fine of up to $25,000 for passengers who are unruly. In this case no arrest was made, according to airport spokesman Gregg Cunningham.

Just saw this on the news tonight . Its a good invention. Nothing worse than some selfish prick who decides to stretch their seat back knowing they are making it uncomfortable for the person behind them.

I always put mine back, mainly because of my height and it takes the pressure off my lower back.

Im referring to those who stretch it all the way back.

I remember flying home from Sydney with my Boss after a machine show. We were crammed into a Jetstar Sardine box.
It was a short flight so left my seat up, but my bosses seat was broken and as soon as you sat down it slowly reclined. He checked the controls and could do anything about it.
Passenger behind asked him to put seat up he said 'sorry its broken'. This guy must have not believed him as he starts jostling and kneeing the back of the seat. Things escalate very quickly.jpg and these 2 are arguing.
Attendants had to move old mate behind before they came to blows.
Good times

Trust me I know, been on shit loads of flights. Last year on my flight from Abu Dhabi to Nairobi, my knees jammed into the back of the seat even when my seat was upright. Luckily I was in an aisle seat so I just had my legs out in the aisle.

Airplane seats aren't really designed for anyone over 6' tall. If you're on a short haul flight (under 2 hours) don't be a dick, leave your seat up. After that I think it's fair game to recline your seat.

Was thinking about something the other day, and this seems like the best place to raise it.
Given the choice do you sit in; a)Very front row, no seat in front of you b)Emergency exit row, more leg room c)Very back row, no one behind, free to recline as you like
Help me decide, before I fly next month

Help me decide, before I fly next month  Take the emergency exit row. The very front row means you get served refreshments and food last. The very back row doesn't recline and there's usually kids there.

Haha, I meant in general, rather than a specific airline/flight, but flying to Singapore and then Hong Kong. Not sure who with yet. By myself to/from Singapore, but with someone to/from Hong Kong.

The very back row works well when I travel with the family, there is 5 of us and the back row has one less seat on the wide bodies so it's a 2-3 instead of 3-3 which works well. Plus it's nice to have your seat back without worrying about the guy behind you. You should try the exit row on the way to Singapore, that's what I did when I went last year. The flights only 8 hours so it isn't to long if you don't like it. And maybe try very back row on the way back.

If you're flying next month then you probably want to book your tickets pretty damn soon.

Will probably go for exit row, probably going to have a laptop with me, so more space in front of me would be good. Edited by Funky Munky: 28/8/2014 08:11:30 PM
