I use Foxtel Go on my PC which is good since I have Telstra cable so it's unmetered and doesn't buffer to shit.
Would be better with HD streams though.

was looking at it but the price, somewhere near $50 for the essentials and sports channels, and the essentials is only 8 channels, plus it consumes my bandwidth ( not that it matters, I'm a network engineer for an internet company) but for most, year that would be an issue

I use Foxtel Go on the ipad while connected to WIFI. Works fine. I use Foxtel Play on 2 Samsung smart TVs using the same Wifi connection and the internet connection often drops out.

There are netflix-y solutions you could use that are better.

Sorry, I didn't know having a profession that requires a degree of intelligence was unusual in these forums. My point was I don't pay for internet and I'm not restricted on bandwidth consumption.

IIRC he is making a reference to when ricey used that phrase on PB when he said he worked in IT or something of the sort.

Apologies, as a mod I thought you'd probably read more than the average forumite and would have understood the reference. Having worked for an ISP myself in the past I'm aware of some of the arrangements that are available to employees. On topic, I read Foxtel are tweaking their prices in November so that standard Foxtel + sport will be $50 (same price as play currently). Getting it in HD will be an extra $10. I wonder if that will mean that Play will go down in price too :-k http://www.smh.com.au/business/media-and-marketing/foxtel-slashes-subscription-fees-in-battle-for-customers-20140904-10c9kc.html

Happy with the price drop. However disappointed that they dropped some channels from the basic. Happy they added UKTV.
In the end, Foxtel do not give you your moneys worth. Even at the reduced price, they know that they make their monies on the add ons. So they still keep them so overpriced.
Sports was $15 when i signed up to it about 6 years ago, now its up to $25 and they havent improved it or got that much coverage. A lot of time is taken up my repeats of games from the current, and matches 'from the vault', or even old episodes. They cant even give us decent pre, post, and half time shows for the EPL.
Happy with the reduction, but in terms of what you get for your money, Foxtel still are the most overpriced Pay TV in the world in my view.

With Bein Sports buying out Setanta here will be interesting to see how hard they go after Fox. If they can secure the rights to some of the blue chip sports that Fox has (EPL would count) and offer it on an online platform for a decent price like they do in the Arab countries it could start some dramatic changes.

If Fox are not careful, they will lose so much business. You can get RealPlayerTV. A one off payment of $350, and you get a set top box that connect to the internet. Takes 5 minutes to set up, and you get over 200 channels. Most of them are Indian and so on, so you wouldnt watch those, but you get all the Sky Sports channels, Sky Movie channels. BBC 1, 2, 3, ITV 1, 2, 3, Comedy Channel, WB Movies, just to name a few. It is actually pretty good. And it comes with Al Jazeera who show EPL on their channels as well.

Or you could save yourself $350 and watch all those online with the help of free browser extensions through genuine streaming set ups like BBC Iplayer. Even Sky Sports live streams are easy enough to find and set up on your television. The only money i spend on tv now is Netflix which is 8 bucks a month and 100% worth it.
