southmelb wrote:The key for the final will be the first goal, Bonnyrigg must score first cos the metrostars are incredibly disciplined with the 10 behind the ball when defending a lead. Apart from the 5 minute period where south equalised and then won the penalty to attempt to take the lead they looked very calm and in control. But they look like a team that could fall apart if they fall behind as that would force them to come out and try play. As long as Bonnyrigg don't take 30 minutes to wake up like my mob did they should be ok. ....so an insider may put money on which team for the final? :-" :-" :-"

If it's going off goals, I'm assuming they're talking about goals scored during the finals? If so, it breaks down like this: Bonnyrigg: F: 7 A: 1 =: +6 MetroStars F: 2 A: 1 =: +1 Also here's a fun fact. NPL finals have been played 2 years. Both years a NSW team has made the final. Says all it needs too.
WOLLONGONG WOLVES FOR A-LEAGUE EXPANSION!

So please that an FFA cup spot is up for grabs. Given NPL teams a 2nd shot at making the FFA cup is great news.
I am not going to come on here and say NPLSA is better then NPLVIC but the SA conference is definately better prepared now that they are playing more games going from 2012 when it was just a 10 team 18 round competition to 14 teams and 26 game competition. This doesn't include the finals or FFA cup qualifying games.
Sorry Benjamin but I hope when a National Second Division does eventuate where not going to go bias with just NSW, ACT and VIC teams (understand the cost issue) and just allow ambitious clubs from the NPL to grow naturally and desire the need for tougher competition regardless of the state they reside in.
Examples being clubs from QLD, WA, SA and TAS.
How good could South Hobart is they step up to the national 2nd tier?
How about Palm Beach?
How about Bayswater?
Etc etc. the possibilities are endless.

No need for an apology - I'd rather the second division, whatever form it takes, consist of the strongest teams irrespective of location - but some seem obsessed with the costs of travel, so I'm happy to throw them the bone of localising things somewhat.

southmelb wrote:Congrats to metrostars very solid team and deservedly through...our missed penalty knocked the stuffing out of us, our goalkeeper Maynard would be disappointed with the 2nd goal beaten at his near post like that. Maynard should have come for the first one instead of leaving it to a confused Musa. Typical of South to save the worst til last though - we should have been dead and buried before Milos scored, and in fairness to Maynard, he kept us in the game with a great one-on-one stop... We'll forget them hitting the woodwork and having one disallowed. Suspect that if Jamie had got on top of the penalty Metrostars would have been toast, but he didn't, and they weren't. Cracking season won't be spoiled by a sour note at the end... Roll on 2015...

Sarcasm intended? It's knock-out football so anything could happen - South Hobart made the final last year but it doesn't mean Tasmanian football was second best that year. Also the first season was only played with 5 participating confederations.... Still, well done on an awesome season South Melbourne and well done to NEMS on a disciplined and deserved win in the tough, windy conditions.

Quote:Football Federation Australia has announced that the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues 2014 Grand Final between Bonnyrigg White Eagles and MetroStars SC will be held this Saturday 4 October 2014 at Lambert Park in Leichhardt, kicking off at 4:00pm AEST. Bonnyrigg White Eagles earned the right to host the decider in their home State after accumulating a higher number of points than MetroStars SC across their two matches in regards to the points system utilised to determine home teams throughout the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues Finals Series. Both sides came off narrow victories in the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues Semi Finals. Bonnyrigg needed a Robbie Younis goal to defeat Palm Beach Sharks 1-0 while MetroStars scored a stunning 2-1 away win over South Melbourne FC at Lakeside Stadium. Bonnyrigg will be attempting to become the second Football NSW club to be crowned PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues Champions after Sydney United 58 FC won the inaugural edition of the competition last year. For MetroStars, it would be a fairy tale finish to a year in which they were the standout team in PlayStation National Premier Leagues South Australia, and would go some way to making up for their loss in their local Grand Final. Furthermore, the winner on Saturday will book a spot in the Round of 32 of next year’s Westfield FFA Cup. Gates at Lambert Park will open at 3.00pm and tickets will be available at the venue. The match will also be streamed online at www.nationalpremierleagues.com.au*And there is even more reason to attend Saturday's final with a chance to win a PS4 and a host of other cool prizes. All you have to do is get to the PS4 Zone at the venue, register your name and mobile number and you go into the running. There will also be a Bubble Football match at half-time with a PS4 as the prize while a designated area has been set aside to play the new FIFA 15 game. Bonnyrigg just don't look like they will break them down. SA football looking good on the national scene after seeing a team take out west sydney in FFA and then metro getting past Melbourne and looking the better here
