Sadly I'm going to disagree here. Australians are terrible customers. They are impatient and generally have no time for foreign people in customer service. For example, I would never hire someone with a thick Indian accent to work on a phone for a customer service job, unfortunately, it just gives Australians shits.

Depends on the service, some things are acceptable, some are not.

Very few people have the fortitude for high pressure phone service, ethnicity comes into it a lot less than you'd think.

Generally speaking, if I have to internationally outsource on a job I will go Philippines every time.

It's fun speaking to the Philippines . I end up having a good half hour chat to the guys as most of the call centre's are in batangas and we chat about the place my dad's from . I also usually get discounts on my phone bills :lol:

Whilst that's true, I'd say the majority of Australians are more comfortable with customer service or sales agents if they speak with a clear Australian accent.
The customer service centre I worked at took calls from 3 different countries, including Australia, and it was very interesting to see how Americans and Canadians (generally) loved Australian agents, and how Australians totally disregarded Canadian or French Canadian agents.
