Can somebody explain why both Melbourne teams suddenly have 'club songs'? They havent always, right?

Are they trying to replicate the whole You'll Never Walk Alone thing just without the sentimental value?

I wish other clubs would do this tbh. Better than flavour of the month pop crap being played everytime.

Heart/city has been doing that for 2 seasons.

It's certainly grown to the point where its not cringeworthy, I personally don't mind it.

Jets have had a club song for a while. Not sure how long City & Victory have had theirs.

The smurfs had a woeful song by Jimmy Barnes that they tried to make their song but it got laughed out of the joint.

I wonder how many people said the same thing when they adopted YNWA in 1965? You do know it just stuck as part of a practice of playing the Top 10 before games, yes? I'm sure many "purists" would be vocally up in arms against a club doing that here nowadays. Gotta start from something.
