Its weird because verse two is about opening the doors for those who've come across the seas as we have boundless plains to share. Seems to contradict itself. Anthems are funny though. The French one is about killing people in battle and the American anthem is a drinking song. God save the queen has a verse about killing rebellious Scots, and the tories wonder why it get's booed in Scotland.
