Some of the money that goes to the big 5 needs to trickle down to these other nations.
-PB Big 5  It's really only a big 3 now. England, Australia and India? I dunno man, South Africa seems to be producing good players still. -PB The may still be producing good players (although with the quotas good chance that will change) but when it comes to money there is only a big 3. India, Aus & England.

Lastbroadcast wrote:11.mvfc.11 wrote:Wish people would stop bagging Maxwell, he is a product of the changing atmosphere in the game.
He has the best natural eye in the country and can pull off shots people wouldn't dream of. People shouldn't be so quick to write him off when he has performed in the past, and will perform in the future.
He is the perfect all rounder for the Sydney test, his offspin will also be more than handy. The problem with Maxwell is he has no match awareness with the bat. Everyone says he can win you a game in an hour by smacking it everywhere, but I have seen him lose way more cricket matches by playing a brain dead shot and getting himself out at the wrong time. He even did it a week or two ago in the Big Bash when the Stars lost to the Thunder. He was out there with Pietersen, they had the run rate under control, but then he got himself out and the Stars lost by a run. I would still have him in the T20 and ODI squad but he seriously needs to grow up. There are younger players than him around the Big bash and shield cricket with just as much talent but way more maturity (Lynn being one). Edited by lastbroadcast: 30/12/2015 01:03:23 PM Maxwell will never be a test cricketer as long as his arse points to the ground.

What a Crowd tonight at the MCG 80K+. The Big Bash is great. The short tournament makes every game must see.

Maxwell should never ever play another test for Australia. He is not the right sort of batsman and not a good enough bowler. O'Keefe is a good selection, it is up to him to grasp the opportunity, however there is no way he is a better bowler than Lyon.

Darren Bravo has stood out in this weak West Indies team. The batting lineup is so weak that he is the only definitively test match batsman in the team. Braithwaite shows signs of becoming such a player, Samuels could be but his heart does not appear to be in it. His willingness to take responsibility and play great old fashioned, hard working test match innings to anchor the team must be hugely applauded.

IMO The Future of Cricket will be
Test Cricket T20 Domestic Competitions + International T20 First Class 4 Day Games
I Can see the one day format going away in the next 5-10 years

I Can see the one day format going away in the next 5-10 years ODI's are still good. I personally prefer them to T20.

The BBL proved last night it's cricket's equivalent of professional wrestling, more about entertainment than the actual sport.

Don't mind the look of the one day squad. Give some guys a try. Also can't believe people say Lyon should be in the One Day Team.

an odd thing about nathan lyon is he struggles to take advantage of favourable conditions (4th innings of a test, spin friendly wickets). Not sure why
Its harder to analyze him because to be honest Australia doesn't have a good off spin culture and we don't have many (if any) off spinners with an average in the 20s to analyze or emulate at any time in our history.

Edited by grazorblade: 4/1/2016 01:51:55 PM Faulkner neeeds to learn how to bat at 4 day level. Henriques is the best allrounder we got Imo. I See Faulkner as number 8 In test cricket. He is a good enough bowler to be picked as a bowler and handy with the Bat like Johnson and Starc. I wouldn't pick him as a number 6. Henriques and Maxwell are the only allrounders that are good enough to bat in the top 6. Stonis is another however he needs to bowl alot more. Edited by somebody: 4/1/2016 03:05:12 PM

faulkner has the best batting average of the three if he ends his test career with the same averages as his 1st class career he could be one of the all time greats

Edited by somebody: 5/1/2016 11:28:12 AM Probably not that much difference between the two sides for me: Finch Warner Smith Lynn Maxwell Watson Haddin (T20 only) Faulkner Starc Hazlewood Behrendorff The likes of SMarsh, Khawaja, Bailey, Wade, Boyce, Lyon, Richardson, Tye & Hastings all apart of the squad (well extended group expect plenty of rotation).
