I don't know if the theory will work or not, but it can't hurt to try.

Another reason to add to why not to do it - it's actually quicker for mods to delete spam threads if we delete the OP of the thread, rather than delete the thread itself - deleting the post(s) in the thread is quicker, and deletes the thread in doing so, whereas just deleting the thread itself has a shocking response time by the servers or whatever. So if there are extra posts in the threads, it then becomes less quick.
