the bottom line is: Wimbledon is an event that has been attended by the Queen of England, the QUEEN FFS

Whats that got to do with anything? Well Australia is technically and will remain a subject of the Queen as it stays a British subject

If Australia wants to do away with being a subject, then it should consider that subject of becoming a Republic. On the other hand, the US Open (a place which gained independence from Britain) is notorious for its lack of sportsmanship and boorish crowds (worse than Australia), ie 'here batter batter batter batter...', and thats just the beginning, on the other side of the scale they have people who open fire at cinemas :-k ...

It's not really the bottom line. The Duke of Kent goes to (or used to go to, up until a couple of years ago) the Australian Open every year. The TV cameras would always show him right at the front.

Plus the Queen has been to the AFL Grand Final, the cricket, maybe even the Australian Open, so on and so forth.
