For the first time, but certainly not the last, I began to believe that Arsenals moods and fortunes somehow reflected my own. - Hornby

The only reasoning I can see behind it is either
a) Abu Dhabi United Group are looking at buying another club in Europe that has a small reputation (Like, Man City, Heart and NYCFC did) and they are trying to bolster the squad to finish as high as possible this season before the purchase
b) The Man City scouts see Brattan improving immensely (not to Man City level, of course) and that he will be able to be used for marketing within Australia when he becomes a genuine starter for Australia.

So he'll end up at either Yokohama or NYC.

Seriously doubt it. Competing with Pirlo and Lampard, haha?

Manchester City sign him... Big signing fee, low salary... Then loan him to Melbourne City - who are only responsible for paying his wages, his initial signing fee being a separate matter, handled outside Australia, that doesn't fall under our salary cap.

Nothing is a separate matter when the FFA are involved. No chance they'd allow it.

I would've said so, but he's pretty much said he doesn't want to play in Aus? I mean fair enough if they offer a massive signing fee, no one is going to refuse...

He may not want to play here - but the pay structure I've suggested above completely circumvents FFA's loan regulations. They would, I'd assume, look very strongly at it if City did it - but if he's clearly contracted at the equivilent of $1,000/week, and that's what he's paid for the duration of the A-League season, only $30k or so would count against the cap.

Would still need to be paid the minimum salary for a senior squad player (55k or whatever it is). Word is Garby has confirmed Brattan is going to sign with City and they'll immediately loan him back to Melbourne. I thought they were already at 23/23 but could easily be wrong. Following Victory's template of trying to sign Roar players to win... Mass, Brattan, Viking, Franjic, Zullo.... haha. Fucking loaded central midfield but. Erik, Melling, Brattan, Mooy, Koren.

Should go on loan to the Championship if he wants to make something of his career from this point. Dont think he gets much of a say where they send him on loan either.

I don't think Luke's ego is that big. I've met the guy and he's very down to earth. I ran into him at the Soccer Shop at Mt Gravatt before he broke into the team and he was a bit down that he wasn't getting a chance. I think he was pretty grateful to get his chance at the Roar and I can't seem him realistically thinking he'll just slot in.

Murray Shaw, EP of football at Fox Sports So I literally typed in Manchester City feeder club into google and Wikipedia is telling me MCFC has a fair few feeder clubs, including: Aarhus (Denmark) BK Hacken (Sweden) Djurgardens (Sweden) Gil Vicente (Portugal) Grasshoppers (Switzerland) KV Mechelen (Belgium) NEC Nijmegen (Netherlands) New York City (USA) Melbourne City (Australia) Perth Glory (Australia) WTF? Haha Sporting Lisbon (Portugal) Stromsgodset (Norway) All of these are the most relevant here. Not sure how correct this list is but it's the best I could find. NEC, Grasshoppers, Aarhus or Mechelen would be my picks. (Holy trinity reppin')
