The coverage of the draw by football NSW was average but some good fixtures to come. If my boys get through match 1, we will more than likely be up against Sydney Olympic at home.
Pumped that soccer is back! Bout bloody time the real stuff was here again!

An article on the sometimes forgotten South Coast clubs participating in the FFA Cup. http://www.foxsportspulse.com/assoc_page.cgi?client=1-4704-0-0-0&&news_task=DETAIL&articleID=41397154Football South Coast has a record seven (7) teams competing in the 2016 FFA Cup. This competition has captivated audiences across Australia. It gives the small Association clubs an opportunity to play some of the bigger clubs in not only NSW but if clubs progress, across Australia (including A-League clubs). This year Woonona, Albion Park White Eagles, Kemblawarra Fury, Picton Rangers, Wollongong United, Bulli, Cringila and of course the Wollongong Wolves all are part of the Australia wide knockout tournament. Teams will need to negotiate past round 7 to make the national draw however with the majority of these teams starting at round 3, that is just 5 wins away. Woonona have been drawn away against Eastern Suburbs Association club - Pagewood Botany. Should they get through that game, they face Barden Ridgebacks (Sutherland Association) away. Not a lot is known of either of their opponents and given Woonona's nice little run last year, it is not inconceivable to think that Woonona could face NPL2 side Bankstown Berries in round 5. Albion Park White Eagles host West Ryde Rovers (Gladesville-Hornsby Association) in round 3 where the Eagles are expected to prevail. They would then face a stern test against NPL1 heavyweights Blacktown Spartans at home which should be a fantastic contest. The Spartans have been bundled out to local opposition here before (Wollongong United 2015) and will probably have learned from that experience in not underestimating local teams. Kemblawarra Fury host Western Lions FC (Penrith Nepean Association) in round 3 and assuming they get through that, they face the winner of minnows St Marys Convent and Kissing Point. Assuming they get through that, the Fury could well face Wollongong Wolves at home in round 5. This could well mean that we have at least one local team heading into round 6 and the penaltimate NSW preliminary qualification round. Picton Rangers are away to St George Association team - Forest Rangers FC. Should they get through that, the Rangers will host the winner of Balmain Tigers and Doonside Hawks. Should the Rangers get through to round 5, they will likely face a lower State League divison team which is a handy draw. Wollongong United are away to Auburn FC (Western Sydney) who last year gave Dapto Dandaloo a strong game before going down. Assuming United are too strong for the hosts, they face another IPL side in Cringila Lions at Cringila. We could see another team through to Round 5 where they meet the winner of the potential clash betwen Albion Park White Eagles and Blacktown Spartans. Bulli FC host State League club Liverpool FC in round 3 and should they progress, they have another difficult game against this time at home to NPL2 side Spirit FC. Should they progress through to Round 5 though, they look like they will draw a lower league side which will be just reward for progressing through the early rounds. The Wollongong Wolves come in at Round 4 and as mentioned could potentially set up a mouth watering clash with Kemblarra Fury. FSC wishes all teams the best of luck in their cup run. The third round kicks off 19 March.

The potential qualifying game of Kemblawarra Fury (Dapto Dandaloo) against the Wolves would be huge.

FNSW with another Rubbish draw display. these blokes cant do anything right.... so if we beat Sutherland, then it could come down to a Sydney Olympic v Sydney united to make the FFA cup in round 7  (barring we win all our games, and Olympic beats Spartans)
Not a Phase, Not a Trend, SYDNEY UNITED till the END!

Question: I have noticed Blacktown City are not in the draw ( they won the NPL title so they get a direct entry to the FFA CUP) however this FFA cup qualifiers is also a Waratah Cup Competition. So what happens then? are they getting rid of the cup or? Also noticed the HAL NPL teams are not in it and rightfully so.

(barring we win all our games, and Olympic beats Spartans) Then you have qualifier 5 where there is no NPL1 teams, although I would be happy to see Marconi get in.

Apia and Bonnyrigg have it quite tough as well, although only Bonnyrigg play an NPL 2 team in that side of the draw, Round 6 will likely see the final 4 teams left in that pot being Bonnyrigg, Apia, Hakoah and Parra.
The Wolves have the easiest run of any NPL1 team, they don't have any other NPL1 teams in their section.

Fraser Park > Hills Brumbies > Hakoah > Bankstown Berries > Apia/Parramatta Somebody broke it down and this is what the most likely draw for us would be assuming we keep progressing. Two NPL 2 sides, 1 State league 3 side & two NPL 1 sides.........Tough TBH not even getting my hopes up

Berries are in the St George FC / Marconi Pool
Round 5 - Bankstown City Lions v Sydney United at Jensen could be a good throwback to the old days before Lions got relegated, if both clubs get that far...

Balmain looks to have a decent opening game. Playing the winner of a couple non-league clubs if we beat Doonside, which I think should be possible.

(barring we win all our games, and Olympic beats Spartans) I reckon we won't make it as straight forward for Olympic as you think. We played well last year in a lower division against your boys United to only go down 1-0 and you guys ended up winning the cup.

St Kilda Celts got a 118th minute winner to beat North Melbourne Athletic. North Melbourne lead midway through the first half through a penalty which was definitely a foul but probably outside of the area. St Kilda hit back early in the second half with a shot from the edge of the area going in off the post. St Kilda dominated the game having a dozen decent chances and some penalty shouts of their own with North Melbourne mainly just playing long balls to their two strikers. In the end a cross headed onto the bar was bundled over the line for St Kilda to get the win. Fair result but also a good showing from North Melbourne in their first entry in the comp.

The 3 remaining AWFA clubs through again, now onto Round 3. Wangaratta City (last seasons AWFA champs) have now won 3 consecutive away games after 2 hour plus drives, this time knocking out State League 2 Hume United.
