Balmain Tigers: 2 Doonside Hawks: 1 What tiers are these clubs? Im under the impression this should have been easier for Balmain. Balmain play NSW NPL 3 (old State League Division 1). Doonside play I'm pretty sure in just the Blacktown District competition, so tonight would have been their seniors. It probably should have been a much easier job for Balmain than the score and performance. First 10-15 Balmain were out of the blocks pretty quick and all over Doonside. Got 2 goals in quick succession. Could have been 3 had one not been disallowed and called back for offside. After that Doonside started to get their act together and started playing some decent football. The last 10 minutes before half time Doonside had the best of the possession and looked the most dangerous. For the most part they were closing Balmain down pretty well. The second half basically belonged to Doonside. Balmain had some good chances, but weren't converting. Again, Doonside looked very dangerous in the final 10-15 and were rewarded with a goal right on 90 minutes. A little too late, but a deserved goal nevertheless. They'll be disappointed they didn't get more out of this game I think. It's still pre-season I think for NPL3 - which kicks off either this weekend just gone or next weekend. If it was this weekend and Balmain had to play twice in 24 hours, than understandably they were upset. I'm note sure, might kick off next weekend though. A little sluggish, but Balmain did look good in terms of stringing passes together. #7 their right winger is a bloody quick lad. Was really causing the Doonies some trouble down the wing all night. We play the winner of Picton Rangers (Illawarra Premier League) and Forest Rangers (St George District Association). I think Picton won that, so this should be an interesting game. Hopefully it's home again.

They've been playing third-tier NSW for a few years now since winning the 4th division and being promoted. They finished 4th in the NSW State League 1 (Now NSW NPL3) and reached the preliminary final.

Spot on Heiny. My boy plays for Ryde Magic, up against Stanmore Balmain etc this season. Comp starts April 2 for seniors - YL already round 3 coming up. 1sts played Pittwater this afternoon, always been a strong club and they gave our guys a game alright. 4-4 normal time so to pens. That's the big difference there, the veteran golden Greek Kyriakos (ex PAOK) 4time NSW Goal keeper of the year saves 2 pens GRM advance 3-2.

Didnt get a call up after 100 games at PAOK. That's suprising.

We're bound to run into an NPL1 club eventually.

This round and next I reckon there are far too many booby traps for the smaller clubs to survive.

My team Hawkesbury beat north western mariners 3-0 on the weekend. Mariners who are in npl3 alongside heineys balmain and hawkesbury.
Hawkesbury got knocked out of the FFA cup by the mariners in extra time last year so its great to beat them so easily.
Hawkesbury are looking really strong this year we just lost to blacktown city by 2-1 in pre season after losing in the last few minutes.
I can see us going along way in the cup this year

I expect life changes TSF, interestingly PAOK honoured him in Jan before a game, game stat I see from another source is 144 but no matter. Loving the Cup, brings another element to support prior to the season proper.
