I probably missed it, but where is Northern NSW Northern Pool at?

Last I saw, North Armidale United (my old team) had won the Northern Inland region and had to play a team from Coffs Harbour.

Great question. Wtf is going on.

I was under the impression that they were going to rename themselves Gold Coast City and change their colours to Yellow and Blue, in the hope of maybe one day being a new Gold Coast team in the A-League.

They have probably formally separated the NPL and Gold Coast clubs. This has occurred a couple of times. Dudley Redhead, and Mayfield United in NNSW have both their separate junior and senior clubs in the FFA Cup. They obviously separated a while ago and now the junior club has it's own senior team. Dunbar Rovers in NSW had both their NPL3 club and local district club in the cup. The must be formally separate clubs as well.

There were 12 Clubs in each State who were awarded National Premier League Licences. Each club is expected to field a senior team, five junior men’s teams from under-12 to under-20 and a U/13, U/15 and Senior Women’s Teams.
Each club has been granted a 5-year licence and there is no promotion or relegation from the league during this period.
In 2016 Palm Beach teams competing in the National Premier Leagues Competitions will be called Gold Coast City FC

http://www.palmbeachsoccerclub.com.au/npl/

So all teams playing in NPL are now known as Gold Coast FC. I'm assuming that means they're going to be entered into the FFA Cup as Gold Coast FC.

I'm assuming non-NPL teams i.e Juniors, all-age seniors etc. playing in the local Gold Coast competition/s will remain as the Palm Beach Sharks?

Does that mean they're eligible to enter two formal entrants to the FFA Cup - an NPL side (Gold Coast FC) and a non-formal team ?(Palm Beach Sharks)

With Palm Beach Sharks having just been knocked out, they still have Gold Coast FC in the FFA Cup?

So damn confusing. :lol:

I knew this would happen. I knew there would be 'exceptions' to key rules. This is why the FFA need to take over and come down hard on these amateurs.

Football Queensland threw out Kawana last year over player eligibility iirc, so teams can get kicked out.

We need Aussieshorter to get on it.

It's totally legit, as long as the clubs have formally separated. They would be registered as different entities with different boards. As far as the FFA are concerned they are 2 distinct clubs, that just share a common history and possibly facilities, and in some cases similar names.

The FFA Cup rules state:
CLUB ELIGIBILITY AND REGISTRATION
6.1 Club Eligibility
(a) In order to participate in the FFA Cup, a Club must:
(i) be registered with a Member Federation or FFA, and be registered with FFA in accordance with the National Registration Regulations;
(ii) have a senior men’s team participating in a Competition;
(iii) only enter one (1) team in the FFA Cup (such team must be the team referred to in clause 6.1(a)(ii) and, where a Club has multiple senior men’s teams, such team must be that of the highest competitive standard);

I would argue if there has been a breach that both teams should be ineligible. Not a situation where the highest league team can still compete.

One of the local clubs near me are in a similar situation.

Leichhardt Saints as far as I can tell have two teams in the FFA Cup. Both played in the last round. One is an AAM team, which I believe participate in the Canterbury & District Association - Park Football. The other participate in the Sydney Ametuer League. The CDA team got smashed against Mosmon, while the Ametuer League team won. They play Hawkesbury next Wednesday.

It's strange, technically there should be nothing stopping Sydney FC NPL team from playing in the FFA Cup.... But what do I know? FFA are uncanny.

The rules stop them from playing. Leichhardt Saints do appear to be 2 different clubs, Leichhardt Saints FC are the CDA club which contains the juniors as well and Leichhardt Saints SFC are the other club in the Amatuer League. They have 2 separate websites and facebook pages, although they are linked. So I'm sure a far as FNSW are concerned they are 2 clubs.

I'm not sure what good I can do :d

If they have formally separated I don't necessarily have a problem with it, but it should be made clear. The way the Facebook page worded it really sounded like the 'Gold Coast City' name was just being used for the NPL, but not a separate club.

So in regards to Palm Beach/Gold Coast - the Palm Beach that was knocked out in the round just played, is that the same Palm Beach that has appeared in the previous 2 FFA Cup finals, or would that be the "re-badged" Gold Coast FC?

I'm assuming that because Gold Coast FC are about to play their first game in qualifying - that's the old Palm Beach Sharks (If you will)

Palm Beach Sharks just got knocked out. This would be considered the same club, however GCC would be considered the same club? Hence the problem perhaps

Quote:
Palm Beach name could go as new Gold Coast City FC entity looks to take game into future

PALM Beach are likely to be playing under the name of Gold Coast City FC in next year’s National Premier Leagues competition.

And, in a number of sweeping changes, the club will have new colours – believed to be a design combining royal blue, yellow and sky blue – in a bid for the new entity to embrace the entire Gold Coast soccer scene.

The club is holding a general meeting of members at its Mallawa Drive headquarters tomorrow night to discuss the bold new plan.

“This is all to do with the bigger picture,” president Peter Williamson said.

“It’s a general discussion, not a matter of members saying yes or no.

“The whole objective of it is to broaden the support of the NPL by attracting support from the whole of the footballing community on the Gold Coast. It’s in the best interests of football on the Gold Coast – a non-parochial name and organisation – to take NPL football forward.

“If there is any possibility of an A-League club here in the future it needs to have this, grassroots support much like Western Sydney Wanderers have.”

Palm Beach have played in the first three seasons of the National Premier Leagues, winning the Queensland championship-grand final double last year.

The club was actually named Gold Coast City Gamblers when it won the old state league in 1999.

It is also understood that Palm Beach will be bolstered on the field by the returns of a number of star performers.

They include 2014 player of the year Troy Ruthven and Daniel Dragicevic, who have agreed to terms for 2016.

It is understood that 2014 golden boot winner Chris Lucas could be back at Mallawa Drive, along with Lyndon Dykes from Redlands.
