Rovers fans travelling to the game on what appears to be a stripper bus. Logan FTW. Thats a pretty decent following tbh. Shame they lost. Would have been interesting if they would show up if they qualified to a few games.

How the fuck can you have 70 minute matches in (what I assume and hope is) an official, FIFA sanctioned tournament?
For the first time, but certainly not the last, I began to believe that Arsenals moods and fortunes somehow reflected my own. - Hornby

Decent crowd so far, bit chilly with the wind. Absolutely cracking venue though although the pitch has seen better days. Edited by melbourne_terrace: 5/6/2016 06:07:06 PM

Quote: FIRE COACH: It’s like playing with two arms tied 5th June 2016 5:14 PM SLIP ‘n’ SLIDE: Sunshine Coast Fire’s club captain Grant De Chastel slides for hte ball in his side’s 3-1 loss to ladder leaders the Far North Queensland Heat at Bokarina on Sunday afternoon. Patrick Woods by Alex Nolan FOOTBALL: Sunshine Coast Fire coach Sam Saif is lamenting the fact he will have limited stocks to choose from in the Fire's FFA Cup fixture against Surfers Paradise this weekend.
With five players scrubbed from the fixture, having played for other clubs early in the competition, Saif will only have 13 senior players to pick from.
Already feeling the pinch after a 3-1 loss to Far North Queensland at Bokarina on Sunday afternoon, the coach showed his frustration.
"Because we've got no under-20s we can't sign players," he said
"It's like playing with two arms tied behind (your) back. Every other team can sign 40-odd players and pick from them. We can sign 20.
"I think we've got 13 players available and then we've got 16-year-olds to pick from. But that's not development, putting 16-year-olds in against men...it's not fair on them."
Advertisement FNQ put plenty of heat on the Fire in the first half, with a strong SW breeze behind its back.
Their leading goalscorer Jamie Carroll scored his first goal mid-way through the opening stanza, through dominance in possession.
With the wind at their backs in the second half, Fire found some spark and had numerous opportunities on goal.
A pin-point corner kick saw on-field captain Paul Mikula lodge a header into the back of the net to level the scores.
It seemed to send a scare through the Heat's camp, and they went on the attack almost immediately after.
"I don't think they lifted a few gears," Saif said.
"It was just a quality goal and we had to put to try and get equalisers. We put four up front and that left open spaces.
"When you've got good players like they did up front it can expose you."
Expose them it did.
Jamie Carroll went on to score another goal and dominated possession for the rest of the game.
"We thought we might as well lose 3-1 rather than 2-1," he said.
"Right up to us scoring I thought we were worthy of at least a point."
Heat coach Tim Campbell said he felt the last 20-25 minutes his side had played all year.
He said Carroll, the captain, led from the front.
"He'll be happy with his performance... he's had two (each) in the last few games," he said
Fire plays Surfers Paradise Apollo FC at 5pm on Saturday night at the Gold Coast.
It's next NPL match is against Northern Fury on June 18 in Townsville.
http://m.sunshinecoastdaily.com.au/news/fire-coach-its-like-playing-with-two-arms-tied/3039271/#/0 Doesn't look good. I'm pretty sure Fires manager at the time played for Noosa last year. Can't they just get in some loan players who are eligible? Edited by scott21: 6/6/2016 01:36:40 AM

They have potential A/A2-League potential one day. Obviously on-field success doesn't equal a licence, but seeing them do well in the Cup might help boost their player numbers, members, commercial appeal, attendances, etc, which might all be taken into account as the football pyramid slowly grows upwards.
