Singapore football fans to enjoy excitement of Chinese Super League
May 09,2016
SINGAPORE, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Football fans in Singapore will soon be able to share the joy and excitement of Chinese football matches as Singapore-owned MyChinaChannel (MCC) and Orientivity announced on Monday that they will be jointly bringing in games from the Chinese Super League in Singapore.

MCC and Orientivity have secured the current and next season's broadcast rights for Singapore and they will be partnering pay TV operator StarHub to broadcast two matches per week on its SuperSports channels from May 14 onwards. Football fans can also view the SuperSports channels on smart devices such as smartphones and tablets.

Chinese football is gaining global attention as it aims to become one of the world's greatest by 2050. Top players like Jackson Martinez, Ramires and Alex Teixeira have already moved to the league, and prominent names like Jack Ma, Executive Chairman of Alibaba Group and Wang Jianlin, Chairman of Dalian Wanda Group are also investing in the game. In 2015, the average attendance for the league saw an increase of around 17 percent, as compared to the previous year.

"It's our vision to bring the best of China content to the world and we are very excited to be able to kick off this partnership with Orientivity and StarHub. With more investments pouring into the league, we believe that the interest level for the Chinese Super League will grow in the coming years," said Patrick Yong, CEO of MCC.

"The Chinese Super League is emerging as one of the hottest leagues in Asia with clubs like Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao and Shanghai SIPG proving them in the AFC Champions League. Featuring a unique blend of accomplished foreign players and promising home-grown talents, the Chinese Super League will be an exciting addition to the broad range of football competitions on our platform, giving football fans more reasons to cheer," said Ms Lee Soo Hui, Head of Media Business Unit, StarHub.

I can't believe it yet either. Maybe next year will be the year.

Huge Chinese population here in Oz, plus the league is exploding in terms of growth. I'm sure the CSL would be happy to expand the broadcasting to other countries, especially if they want their league to be numero uno in Asia.

Quote:
In a policy adjustment which could have significant ramifications for the CSL, the Chinese FA is considering reducing the number of foreigner player clubs can register, in time for the 2018 season.
The news emerged at CFA meeting in Guizhou province yesterday. According to a Tencent Sports report, no final decision on the policy has been made but the tentative plan is for next season to be a transitional year to allow clubs to adjust their squads before changing the 4+1 foreign player quota to 3+1.

interesting
havent been to china for about 3 years , but before that was there regularly for work... I wonder how the sporting landscape has changed there.
Given china might change their foreigner ruling , and other codes making inroads there it has the possibility of making the league weaker

Well yes AFL for one... A lot of noise about how Port and AFL have secured TV deals with chinese tv and going by reports ( very anecdotal ) millions of viewers have tuned it..
But also NBA is making inroads to China as well

on a side note. NFL tried expanding in Europe and failed big time... So next market for them would be China

China is hoping to have one million rugby players in 10 years time after Alisports and World Rugby signed a historic agreement on Sunday to develop the game in the mainland.
Zhang Dazhong, CEO of Alisports, signed the agreement with World Rugby chairman Bernard Lapasset and chief executive Brett Gosper in which the sports arm of e-commerce giant Alibaba will pump in millions of dollars into the development of the sport in China.
"We hope to have one million players in 10 years time," said Zhang. "With one million players it is easier to become a world-class rugby nation."

Speaking at a Town Hall-style meeting held by the Jacksonville Jaguars at Everbank Field, Goodell addressed a question about China and also discussed the idea of putting a team in London.

“China’s a huge market. We all know that,” Goodell said. “Anyone who’s in business here, you know you want to reach important markets. That’s an important market for us. If we can make inroads there, we think that’s important for us long-term in our global strategy of making football more popular on a global basis. I wouldn’t say a franchise in China is something that’s on the front burner for us right now...I think if we could do that, we’d do it in London.”

Beijing up against it at home to Lifan. 2 zip to the away side at the half and the crowd is not happy.

Live on Bet365 get around it.

Ends 1-2 to Lifan. What a final 10 minutes. Goalie pulled off miraculous saves meanwhile Beijing scored a pen. Guoan in #trouble.
