Even without pro rel there needs to be some form of punishment for finishing last. I think the cup and the league should be separate. I do however think clubs should be ineligible for qualifying into Asia via the league the following season. This season, CCM should not be able to finish so badly and then be allowed to qualify for ACL next season.... even if they finish first.

A real punishment would be last 2 teams fail to qualify for next years FFA cup.

I disagree. Every club in Australia should be eligible to participate in the FFA Cup. No other clubs are ineligible on the grounds of where they finished in their leagues.

Alternative - Perhaps those 2 clubs have to enter in the fourth round or something earlier.

The FFA takes away the chance for a NPL sides to draw non A-League teams all the way into the final. They guarantee an NPL team makes the semi but it will always be against an A-League team.

Not a big deal Lets be honest with each other. The crowd wants to see cupsets. Not the semi finalists pumping teams. WSW was a freak event. I think I speak for most fans when I say we would rather see CCM and NJ go against NPL teams or at least have the chance than them knocking each other out. Edited by scott21: 7/4/2016 07:07:49 PM

Edited by scott21: 7/4/2016 07:07:49 PM So weird they get the seeded teams to face the NPL teams first. If you have to seed it, I'd say make it so A-League teams play state teams as often as mathematically possible, which surely statistically would make cupsets more likely. We have the rest of the year to watch A-League v A-League teams, we want some #romance!

But seriously, I think it should be a free draw. However I wouldnt be too opposed to having all 10 A-League teams play away to NPL and 6 all NPL ties before a free draw in the r16. It is the players dream to play against A-League players on their home field. Not to be knocked out by potentially a team that plays in the same league as you. It would also give clubs a money injection. Edited by scott21: 7/4/2016 08:10:42 PM

I didn't death-ride the 'Roos, just expressed a preference which goes against the grain. Having said that, the antics of the FFA make me feel conflicted about supporting what is essentially their team sometimes. By the time he finished recounting his memory the game was finished .......... Another goal was scored ........... A penalty missed and a goalkeeper sent off ............... But we had to read the paper the next day to get the result 😟. This is Brenton Speed all over - "That was just like this other game and I'm going to prove to everyone how many football games I ever watched," especially if it's an EPL reference. Every. Bloody. 16 is the ultimate IMO. But 14 makes 26 rounds, that's one less than current. It's not THAT bad a number, is it? Definite conundrum. Cap at 12 teams/33 rounds.

16 Team A League - add 2 in 17/18 and then 2 more each alternate year. Second Division should be set up pronto. Next A League franchise to be set up in Southern Sydney with Tim Cahill as figure-head. Professional Administration for A League separate to FFA Agree Dave Carney castigated for other's failure in 2011 Asian Cup. A League Franchises should pay NPL (or whatever) clubs when buying/taking their players.

When Middlesbrough get promoted next season, the TV deal alone will make them as rich as the 4th biggest club in Spain, or something like that...

While 16 is the magic number, I don't think we will ever get there within 20 years.

I'd say most of them would be quite popular opinions ;)

A second division without automatic promotion/relegation with the A-League is MORE important to the future of the game than simply expanding the A-League to 12-14-16 sides.

Almost all of them haha true but it almost works reminds me of this I could never invent a sandwich like this, Lister. You see all the ingredients are wrong. The fried eggs: wrong; the chutney: wrong. The chilli sauce: all wrong. But put them together and somehow it works. It becomes right. It's you -- this sandwich, Lister, is you. Love that scene

There isn't a large enough fanbase to go beyond the current 10 teams
Pro/Rel will not work in the forseeable future, unless FFA steps in and massively props up struggling/second tier clubs.
Luongo is a mediocre player who had a good run of games in the cup
Tomi Juric is massively overrated

Edited by 433: 8/4/2016 04:56:19 PM Luongo gets man of the match or near man of the match almost every game he plays for QPR. Juric is overrated however but he is one of the few strikers we have.
