FFA took Ange from MV in 2013 (hi Brisbane) but enough of 'head office' trying to Engineer the league... Milligan was ours before he was yours.. If a current Socceroo isn't worth the marquee fund, what is? Someone that will bring excitement to the league as a whole. ie someone of a high pedigree who hasn't played in the league before. Why don't people understand this? Seems so simple.

I agree, I honestly think people would turn up and watch Newcastle if they won, having Milliagan in the middle or at back would help and he and holland could feed the ball nicely to nordstrand.

Milligan is more of a household name than Fornaroli Milligan doesn't pull in tv audiences or attendances. Definitiely not marquee fund material, even if he could be a marquee. To pull money from the fund, the marquee has to show strong promise in lifting all the other metrics, and he certainly doesn't do that. I think Newcastle should start by just winning games, Millsy will help with that. Why would a local tune in to watch an old crotchety euro get spanked?

scott21 wrote:So Milligan is worth the marquee fund but Bruno isn't? I remember reading that the marquee fund could not be spent on players already in the league. That would rule Fornaroli out but not Milligan.

He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

If true, it would have to be a sweetener deal as part of the sale, you would think he may attract other interests after his performance the other night/morning, see how he goes against Greece, these friendly's are always a shop window for these guys
