Cahill isn't an out and out striker, but he manages to score goals for the Socceroos. If he is good enough in an out and out striker position, then he will score goals, i guess if he can though is question. Not sure where/how exactly he played recently with Sevilla though. With those figures, and if he has been playing as a striker, then no, not worth it.

Great cv and top quality player but we need goals. Wouldn't be against the signing Aslong as we signed a quality striker also.

Quote:Recently-released Sevilla winger Jose Antonio Reyes' management have contacted Sydney FC offering the players services as a marquee. His Management contacted Sydney, Working Holiday :-k

Rumor or not the bigger question is;
Would he be considered a "league" marquee?
Personally I say no. But if Cahill is he should be too.

Was he playing as a forward or a left winger for Sevilla?

Reyes is more of a winger than a striker. Could be another Holosko moment if we go through with it.
At 2.5 mil a season im not sure we couldn't find someone with either a little more star power or better at hitting the back of the net

Yeah that was my thought too. We need a big striker first and foremost.
I could see this guy doing well at Adelaide though.

Im a sfc fan, but i would love this guy to be playing an any club in australia.
Quality talent at a good age. Could show a lot of young people how to play the game.
This is the sort of player the ffa should be chasing for our league

He is a quality player who has kept up laying at the top level of European football and is not too old but is elder enough to pass on a great deal to younger players while still playing really well for the club. The problem is Sydney FC need a top quality striker and Reyes is more of a winger / wide attacker so therefor does not really fit the bill for what Sydney FC need, IMO. I would however love to see him in the league.

If Sydney sign a winger I can honestly see Carney converting to a deep lying CM next season where dwindling athleticism wouldn't be a problem and at this level his passing range and incision could be used effectively.

That sounds so ridiculous it could almost work.
