It's just like how the 1990s Godzilla is way better than the remake a couple years ago. Sure, cheesy as fuck, but just so much better! Yep, first one was a classic.

Gay actor who played original Sulu doesn't want new Sulu (played by a straight actor) to be gay. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/george-takei-reacts-gay-sulu-909154Quote:True to its title, the latest big-screen outing, Star Trek Beyond, has gone where none have gone before: Star John Cho — who assumes the Sulu mantle for the third time in the reboots — has told Australia's Herald Sun that the character is revealed to be gay.
The idea came from Simon Pegg, who plays Scotty in the new films and penned the Beyond screenplay, and director Justin Lin, both of whom wanted to pay homage to Takei's legacy as both a sci-fi icon and beloved LGBT activist.
And so a scene was written into the new film, very matter-of-fact, in which Sulu is pictured with a male spouse raising their infant child. Pegg and Lin assumed, reasonably, that Takei would be overjoyed at the development — a manifestation of that conversation with Roddenberry in his swimming pool so many years ago.
Except Takei wasn't overjoyed. He had never asked for Sulu to be gay. In fact, he'd much prefer that he stay straight. "I’m delighted that there’s a gay character," he tells The Hollywood Reporter. "Unfortunately, it’s a twisting of Gene’s creation, to which he put in so much thought. I think it’s really unfortunate."
...
Takei first learned of Sulu's recent same-sex leanings last year, when Cho called him to reveal the big news. Takei tried to convince him to make a new character gay instead. "I told him, 'Be imaginative and create a character who has a history of being gay, rather than Sulu, who had been straight all this time, suddenly being revealed as being closeted.'" (Takei had enough negative experiences inside the Hollywood closet, he says, and strongly feels a character who came of age in the 23rd century would never find his way inside one.)

New Rogue One trailer features Vader at the very end, good luck finding it but
He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

Its about time an updated version of Midnight express was made. The plot is based on an exiled cleric in the USA who returns to turkey and is arrested on conspiracy to plan a coup. After his kangaroo court he is put on death row, whilst on the row he is tortured and is about to be raped by the new sultan of turkey. He manages to struggle free but kills the sultan and escapes to Greece.

-PB I was having dinner with a mate and his wife the other day, he was saying that he will probably go see it even though he knows it will be shit. My argument is basically that it could be the best reboot in the history of reboots and I still wouldn't pay to go and see it because of the way that Sony and Paul Feig reacted to criticism. Based on their behaviour alone, I may never pay to see another Sony/Amy Pascal or Paul Feig film again.

Can confirm BvS: Ultimate Edition improves on the theatrical version (inb4 "well that wouldn't be hard hurr durr I'm an expert" ). Luthor's mechanisms and general insanity/evil make more sense thus making the whole story and actions of Batman/Superman more logical Edited by marconi101: 21/7/2016 11:19:48 PM

Batman: The Killing Joke has been released (finally) as an animated movie and of course the mighty feminists are up in arms about it. For those who haven't read it (highly recommend), the Joker paralyses Barbara Gordon (Batgirl) and takes pictures of her paralyzed, naked body to fuck with Batman's mind. This pissed feminists and white knights off as surely you can't have a female crime fighter becoming the victim of crime, especially at the hands of a sadistic madman who she willingly fought. Also Jim Gordon is sadistically tortured naked but you don't hear shit about that do you? Furthermore the new movie clearly shows a sexual relationship between Batgirl and Batman. Many at Comic-Con were pissed and accused the writers of lessening Barbara's character and motives despite the fact that the comic itself is very short and needed extra material. Also what is the obsession with feminists and white knights when it comes to female sexuality? Is there something wrong with a female character showing her sexuality while it's completely fine for Batman to show his masculinity in every bloody scene? I've waited yonks for this movie to be made like many others but its unsurprising and very fucking annoying that it has been hijacked by moral wizards upset at a fictional character being adapted and expressing basic human emotions and desires in a piece of work that is (IMO) a masterpiece.
