Blacktown vs Bonnyrigg means that for the first time a NSW npl club will make it to the quarters.. Disappointed for Devonport, after tonight it would've been good to see them host an A-league side. Excellent to see that the games are so embraced down there though.

+x Devonport hosting another tie against the strong Bentleigh Greens. Winning tonight and getting to the round of 16 has been a shot in the arm for Tassie football. I've coached teams who've played on the Devonport pitch. It is usually poor in winter, but with all the rain they frequently get at this time of year, it would've been awful tonight.

Devonport had 10% of the city's population rock up to a game midweek.
This year saw the highest attendance in Wollongong Wolves v Sydney FC of 8,029.
Devonport's 25% was impressive. In Tassie we get as many to practice games or regular HAL fixtures as Wollongong, devoid of all the travelling HAL fans that travelled down from Sydney. The WIN stadium at Wollongong looks very impressive, but I suppose it is expensive to hire.

Was originally built for the Illawara Steelers but then they merged with St George and now I think it's only used for 2 or 3(?) NRL games a season. In that context I'm guessing the rent is pretty reasonable.

Bloody oath. Looking forward to Edgy v WSW, hopefully it's at Magic Park. Bash up some wogs, break some hearts, yell at McBreen for two hours, etc
He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

Hume FB say it's going to be played in Broady. Gonna be sooooooo good to play a competitive game in Melbourne somewhere different from AAMI Park or Etihad.

Gonna be a tough game for Canberra Olympic to get past Redlands. That team will be so full of confidence after knocking out Adelaide Utd last round. Still it is a home game and I hope people get behind Olympic in Canberra.

I was hoping if Edgy didn't get a home game that they'd draw either the Knights or Canberra, so I'm happy with the result in the end.
WSW fans reading this - I have supreme confidence that the game will be played at Broadmeadow Magic's ground. Edgy will release a few media things in the coming weeks about how they're trying to make it happen at their ground and the disgrace it is that they can't have it there etc, but I fully expect it to be at Magic Park (formerly Wanderers Oval, how's that for fate? ).

A shame. I used to live 5 minutes from Hume's ground. Would've been handy.
Not a fun place to live though. Anyone here who's a Melburnian will probably agree :P

Matt Simon's 2 goals were excellent striking actions.
The headed goal was good.
The second goal where he received the diagonal pass assist at considerable speed, made a beautiful first touch with his left foot, and an outstanding outside of the foot strike with his right, was simply superb.

Yeah, I'm not happy that we've got to play Perth. Was hoping for a much easier, and closer Ro16 cup tie. That said, Perth aren't unbeatable and we will have Filip Holosko available, and maybe even Bobo, so hopefully we won't have to rely on Woy Woy Wizardry. Would have loved Edgy away, of Canberra away. Perth is simply too far and expensive to do midweek. Especially with work. Finding a pub that shows it will be fun too. :pinch:

The FFA Cup is simply a fabulous event.
It is building bridges between Old Soccer and New Football.
It is also involving so many regional clubs.

No worries. When I get home from work tonight I'll reformat and update the OP with all the stats and scores. I'll also give my take on the game last night. I got home at like 1am last night, had to wait nearly an hour for a train after the game and didn't get to Central till Midnight.

As numbers seem to be the thing around here recently, I've had a first bash at creating an 'NPL state coefficient' based on the UEFA country coefficient. UEFA coefficient: 1 point for draw 2 points for win (a win by penalties is classified as a draw, a win in extra time is classified as a win) Bonus points: 4 points for qualifying to the champions league 5 points for qualifying for the round of 16 1 point for progressing through each of the knockout stages All divided by the number of competing teams, added up over five years. NPL coefficient: 1 point for draw (I've given a point to teams that take it to extra time for some of the weaker federations) 2 points for win (a win by penalties is classified as a draw, a win in extra time is classified as a win) Bonus points: 4 points for qualifying through the NPL (as there are no other qualifying rounds, I don't think it makes sense to give points for simply showing up) 1 point for progressing through each of the knockout stages (I've classified round of 32 as knockout as there aren't the six games you play through in the Champions league) Double points against A-league opposition (I.e. if you take them to extra time 2 points, if you beat them in regular time 4 points + 1 bonus point for making it to the next round) All divided by the number of competing teams, added up as far as the comp has gone. Results compared to spots so far: Clearly not advocating that NSW go down to one spot, but I think there's a case to drop their fifth spot as well as NNSW and WA to lose their second with SA, TAS and ACT being the main beneficiaries (maybe SA up from 1 to 3 and TAS/ACT playing off for a second spot)

Round of 16 games are 23-31 August apparently the match dates, tv games, game locations etc will be announced Friday 12th (ie tomorrow)

So I'm guessing the TV games will be:
Brisbane Strikers v Melbourne City
Hume City v Melbourne Victory
These make the most sense to me.
