City and Victory are a joke, can't even score in open play against NPL clubs.

This is what we want: to bridge the gap.

I don't want Victory to win 10-0.

If they play out of Perry Park and like scott21 and others have suggested put in a temporary stand that brings it up to around 10k and they should be fine. I'm just over watching football in a empty stadium, no atmosphere and the same boring 10 teams in the A-League. Taking a break this season, not renewing my Roar Membership and may be looking at finally supporting a NPL Club.

I'm doing the same this season but with Sydney FC.

Had a few years off victory after not missing a match for 5 years. Now more religious about the ffa cup than anything, but a victory member again. It's good to take some time out i reckon.

I'll be renewing my Roar membership, but I've been going to more and more NPL (and BPL) games over the last few years.  I don't really have a team, but end up watching most clubs at some point throughout the season.

The NPL games just have a different feel to the A-League games which I love.  I don't know if I could say it's more or less enjoyable, but it's just a different way for someone to enjoy their football and I think that's important.

Interesting comment.

Maybe it is the novelty value and inclusiveness of the FFA Cup games that is so appealing?

The inclusiveness of the cup is definitely a big part of it.

I guess the novelty plays a part in the sense that we just don't get to see these sorts of games very often.  After three years I don't think it's the FFA Cup itself that is still a novelty, more so the types of games that it allows football fans to watch.

Plus the fact that some of the teams play some pretty damn good football.

Seeing the NPL teams defeat A-League clubs, or at least hold them for most of the match, really makes me wish the NPL was televised (I know some teams like SM and HU do it). That second division would be awesome.

in the 3 years it's been going, the lower league clubs have improved dramatically. Not sure you could genuinely say it's because of this set up, but perhaps the professionalism has filtered through to all aspects of their game and they have something to aspire to. It's gone from a guaranteed pumping to a chance that the NPL teams will knock off any A-League side.

Now, just imagine how much better local football would get if you had p/r.

The more domestic football in the media for the right reasons more often, the better. All the more bc despite last night for City and MV, all the wireless talk today has been about Boomer fken Harvey :(

Yeah I saw that. Watched the news this morning: cricket, then AFL, then rugby, then football. Shits me because there wasn't even an AFL or rugby match to report on.

Well the NPL does have strict criteria, eg, coaching licences and stuff.

So maybe you're right in that it isn't necessarily because of the NPL system, but I like to think that the system is somehow paying off for the clubs. Imagine 5 years from now! :w00t:
