Sometimes you feel this draw is rigged. Us getting WSW would have been horrible with Round 1 already happening. Victory get Bentleigh in Victory and we get Blacktown. Theyre too perfect really.

If we didn't get Blacktown, Western Suburbs would have.

After sucking major balls in the first two Cups, can't help but feel Blacktown have had a bit of an easy run this year.

One of us were always going to play City too. #cahillvi$ion

I'd heard it said that they were "putting their head down" and "focusing on the league" rather than putting all their attention on the FFA Cup like some other NPL teams were given the extra attention available there, it was said in a praising manner but they may have been bullshit if Blacktown actually just played rubbish?

In fairness, City v Wanderers halves the chances of a Melbourne or Sydney Derby final in November, which is enough after the early derby fixtures to be a big draw.

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but congrats to Devonport getting the biggest crowd of the matchday with 3,168.

Perth v Sydney drew 2,661, Edgy v WSW got 2,616 and Knights v Green Gully got 2,472.

I wonder where City will take their game against WSW?

Surely not AAMI Park. Maybe back to Epping or Ballarat? Kardinia Park in Geelong is probably available and willing.

Honestly that's truly incredible. I've been to Devonport before. It's really nothing more than a small port town.

That has to be around 1/4 of the entire population.

Just got back from work. Absolutely gutted with the result. But as soon as I saw the lineup it was what I was expected. Sooner  we get Marinkovic out and replace him with someone who can move the better. Will watch the replay but expecting doshhhhhh. That line up. Yuckkkk.

Any Perth fans have any positives? Mills play well? Smil come on? Wilson and Knowles or any of our subs show promise?

it'll be a very interesting decision which two main feature matches that FOX Sports are doing to decide given that there are two NPL clubs Bentleigh Greens - Victoria & Canberra Olympic that are both involved in NPL national end of season finals matches just before FFA Cup quarter final ties either September 20/21 (after NPL national elimination finals & before NPL national semi final) or September 27/28 (after NPL national semi finals & before NPL national Grand Final).

I was at the Perth match.  Fun night and good signs for Sydney, but yeah Perth looked pretty disjointed.  The 'away supporter' section was 4m by 3m and had about 20 ppl in it.  Kinda fun being that outnumbered.

Objectively, Perth were pretty awful, bar the 10 minutes or so after the break. If we were more clinical we would have finished the game off quite easily. Positives for you guys were Ryhs Williams, who was excellent and saved Glory on a number of occasions and the combination of Taggart and Keogh, who didn't get much service but when they went foward on the counter looked dangerous.

I was at Glory game.

Taggart very poor - had a shocking night
Rhys Williams played full 120 and was best player on park
Glory struggled when Griffiths went off.
Mills is excellent - quick, hard and skilful. Will be one of the signings of the season
Reddy is a dickhead - completely lost it late in the game when Brandon Wilson passed ball back to him when Reddy thought he should have turned - called Wilson a f#cking c#nt at top of his voice. Plus he flaps.
Keogh still off the pace a bit
Harold not fit enough
Knowles not good enough

Warren was a piss poor replacement for Risdon at RB - at fault for first goal and lucky not to have cost at least another one. Risdon better play in at least one of the WC qualifiers.

Can't see Djulbic being first choice if R.Williams, Lowry and Grant are fit.

For Sydney - Bobo showed some nice touches, Holosko and Ninkovic were different players from last time I saw them in Perth. Vukovic didn't inspire confidence (but would still rather him than Reddy), Simon was shit as usual but with Brosque and Bobo he shouldn't get much of a look in barring injury, O'Neill was ok without being great. Carney bossed.

Perth looked underdone and lacked the sort of cohesiveness that comes from playing games. Sydney looked good and broke quickly in transition but otherwise a bit one dimensional.

Given the relative squads tonight, the better team probably won but I think Perth has much more room for improvement.

Is anyone able to provide me with the crowd figures for all Newcastle FFA Cup games in the past? I'm talking both Jerks v Glory, Jerks v Victory, Magic v Heidelberg & Strikers, Edgy v City & WSW. Just wanted to compare the stated crowds for all the games held @ Magic Park, if someone has that info somewhere.

Really enjoyed being at Edgy v WSW. WSW were just too good - they clearly wanted it and worked hard for it. The scoreline blew out a bit and I don't think it is a fair assessment on how much Edgy held their own, but apart from one goal that seemed a routine keeper save plus Santa's last goal I think probably should have been a defensive header but Santa just got to it and finished it nicely.

Where I stood, it ended up the RBB decided to make camp right next to me. Fair play to them, they made it up for a midweek late kickoff and created as much atmosphere as they could. And they were extremely well behaved. I think there was one extremely drunk & bearded Novocastrian who attempted to rile them up but it was just shrugged off really. Mcbreen slapping that guy was hilaaaaaarious, and done completely cheekily. The RBB seemed to have a great laugh about it too.

Interesting to note - RBB weren't allowed fence banners. Got told that "it was a new FFA rule that no actives are allowed fence banners".
