But if it just going top take away viewers from the league game which their advertisers pay more to be promoted during than the socceroos game why would they advertise the hell out of it. Robbing Peter to pay Paul. Paul is also worth less money to you and you have invested heavily in Peter while Paul is going to run off and play somewhere else in a few months.

+x@ bitzaTend to agree. It sounds like an excuse that poor promotion by 9 might result in lower viewing figures and that football fans should really just know it's on tonight; but 9 are just carrying it and not even promoting it on their sports section/Facebook which is just bizarre - there's at least a million people out there who care about football (7 million if you believe the ffa) why wouldn't you try and alert them to the game?? Average weekend ratings for the AFL a couple of weeks back were 540,000/game which is excellent, if football gets half of that with no promotion, burried on a secondary channel and being the junior code it will be a bargain for 9 - and just maybe they'll wonder what they could have got if they actually promoted it?? As I posted yesterday, there was not one post on any of their Facebook pages promoting the match. I have seen one today though. Obviously they have no interest in the match. As noted, the Thursday NRL match rates around 400k. They obviously believe a hyped up, promoted crucial Socceroos world cup qualifier would not rate more than around 400k on their main channel. I disagree. Tonight's match promoted right could have and should have been a huge ratings winner for 9.

+x+xThursday night game with a world cup spot on the line, we could see some very big ratings tonight. Up against the might of the ALF. I'm sure we will see you wank on about it. Is there usually a afl game on a thursday night? I know there is a league game every thursday. Honestly i dont expect this gake to rate at all. The nine network really dont give a shit anymore since Ten became the major partner (not that they really cared before that anyway)

+x+x+x+x+xLFC v SFC made a huge splash in social media last week: Did you go "Yess!!!!!!!" When you saw that it was all AFL and then thought "This will be great to add to the 442 football forum as Im sure i'll be able to rile a few people up"??? Fucking troll. You are being far too cynical. My sole focus was the great showing by the LFC vs SFC match. Shut up dickhead. Worthwhile contribution. At least I provide facts and figures of interest to the thread. And judging by the responses I get, there is a lot of interest from the broad readership for those facts and figures. You've been told to fuck off by a number of members. Your multis maybe not.

+x+x+xI wonder if those ratings indicate a losing interest in the cup? I know for me it was a must see annual event. Didn't even know when it was on or who was playing. Cup isn't what it used to be, the increased entitlement has lead to it not being treated as importantly. I used to watch every cup final and also many EPL games But with the A League being prime time and in venues I can go to, European football has lost its appeal to me. And the better the FFA push the product instead of holding it back so CCM fans can be happy, the more true this will ring Getting up at 2am to watch 22 blokes representing two teams I have no ties to kick a ball around isn't the biggest game on the calendar for those who have switched to the A League. That's not everybody, but enough to make a difference This is exactly me too.

30 years ago, when the cup used to be on the ABC, it used to be huge in Melbourne.

+x+xSo how did the average of 16/17 compare to previous seasons? Broadcaster ===== 16/17 ==== 15/16 =====% increase Fox ==========67.373 ===== 58,162 === 16 % SBS ========= 78,650 ===== 71,838 ==== 9% Memberships up 7% Crowds down by less than half of 1% .... Crowds down by 0.45% All in all, some very good metrics. One would have to conclude that the season has been a success.

How do the FOX ratings compare to the AFL FOX ratings? I believe that is a good tv rights comparison value, as advertisements matter far less on paytv, as you pay through the subscription.
