Not the biggest Cider fan, but one or two on a ridiculously hot summers day go down OK. Not a fan of sweet ciders like Somersby or Rekorderlig/Koppenberg.

Savanna Dry which you can pick up at BWS/DMs is a nice dry cider from South Africa. They come in 4-packs.

The Hills Cider isn't bad either.

I adore cider. It's awesome.

I like be economically efficient with my purchasing, so I often buy the drink that consists of the highest percentage of alcohol per mL volume, while also not compromising on taste or drinkability (eg, straight spirits).

And so one of the best drinks I've found is Ginger Joe. It's ginger beer, so not officially cider, but tastes very cidery. It's 500mL, 8% alcohol, and about $8. It's my go-to drink when I watch an A-League match from home, and goes well with the summer heat. :)

It's a Carlton & United brewed Cider that's now being pushed into NSW. It's been available for a while in bottles, but it's starting to appear on tap in places. My work are now selling it on tap. I'm fairly sure it's been popular in Victoria for a while. The CUB push is probably a short-termed marketing strategy to see if it's worthwhile continuing to make it. CUB hold the local brewing rights to Bulmers Cider in Australia, and I daresay that'd be close to the most popular cider in Australia.

The Pure Blonde marketing extravaganza rolls on.

Not only is it a shit, low-carb, supposedly gluten free mid-strength lager, they're now bringing out Pure Blond Cider.

I'm fond of the drier style ciders, i.e. Bulmers, Monteith's to a certain extent which are widely available. When I manage to find them I enjoy Batlow's, The Hills, Rekorderlig Dry Apple, Magners and Somersby Double Press.

Only reason I drink cider is that I can drink it to my hearts content without getting bloated like a beached whale like when I drink beer.

The missus loves Lobo Cider from adelaide and there's a nice cider place in daylesford that does still cider. Plus around the corner from our place we have Flying Brick Cider which is starting to make a name for itself.

I'm a craft beer maniac when i drink so get exposed to a few smaller ciders. Not a fan though.

I told my old man about Mercury last night and after all the puns and references to the Solar System were done to death, he then told me that back in the 70s/80s it was a hugely popular drink in Tasmania and that's where it was brewed (and where he lived at the time). He was super stoked to hear of its resurgence.

I've been getting into cider recently, especially Somerby's Apple, but I'm very willing to expand my horizons, so recommendations are very welcome.
I don't usually discuss this on here, because I know many enthusiastic drinkers off forum.

I think I've had Somerby's Apple and liked it.

In this neck of the  woods the craft cider industry is booming as there is a big apple export industry.

Willie Smith is renowned for very dry ciders. Many beer drinkers like these, including me.

Players have some very dry ciders, a bit reminiscent of champagne.

Some of the fruity, sweeter ciders are Pagan, Franks and a fabulous Cole River Valley cider.

Most of the ciders are apple, pear and cherry.

I've liked every one I've drunk!

I'd drink more cider, but apart frorn the dry ciders, they fill me up easily and I can't drink more than one, as they are pretty rich. I probably prefer the local craft beer. I'm going to  a craft beer festival tomorrow.

I generally don't drink anything made by the likes of Carlton & United Breweries or Lion (Tooheys), The only exception to that rule is the smaller craft breweries that they've bought out that still make half-decent beers. Little Creatures (Lion), James Squire (Lion), and Matilda Bay (CUB).

I mostly drink Coopers Pale Ale these days, and the rise of Young Henry's here in Sydney is allowing me to drink their beers on tap in more and more pubs. Their Newtowner beer is arguably the greatest 'summer ale' of all. Their Hop ale is fantastic too - very similar to White Rabbit's Dark Ale,

Absolutely fantastic beer. One of my favourites. Regularly run kegs through my kegerator.

But the cider tastes like what I would imagine cat piss tastes like. Got some for free and I still think it cost me too much.

Pure Blonde stopped being an OK-ish Australian lager when it tried to take on Hahn Super Dry.

Have always loved it. I'll admit I fell for the low carb shit. But i got hooked on it. And am still living it.

I regularly have a keg of that.  Carlton draught, matsos ginger beer, little creatures pale ale,  Heineken and coopers pale ale always ready to hook up. But i just find pure blonde goes down line water. I love it.

I got so disappointed from most ciders that I started making my own.  Granted I cheat and don't make my own apple puree I buy kit ciders and mix them. Have had so much more luck enjoying them now.
