+xIn Xhaka Mustafi Perez Asano Holding Out Rosicky Arteta Gnabry Flamini Wilshere (Loan) Chambers (Loan) I'd call that a very successful window. Bought well and bought what we needed and got rid of a lot of deadwood. Rosicky, Arteta and Wilshere alone accounted for a massive number of our days injured last season. For the sake of being pedantic, we loaned Asano out too right?

Perez is a bit of an unknown to me personally. But I'm fairly sure if we didn't sign a striker, Wenger would have been lashed in public or something.
With the amount of midfielders we have, and who I think are all so great in their own right, it always perplexes me when we sign another midfielder but I couldn't be happier with Xhaka.
Heading into the offseason I didn't expect us to sign a big money CB but circumstances considering I'm not surprised.
At the very least, I don't think come the end of the season that any fan can point the finger at this transfer window and say Wenger lost it there. Most if not all fans should feel like that is a successful, job done window.
Whether reinforcements are needed, and obtained, in January is a different story. For the googlers out there who have the time for me - what are our 5 biggest transfers IN $wise in January ever?

After that I'd have to have a look. Well I mean going into the offseason we didn't have two senior CB's out with medium and long term injuries lol As for Xhaka, he's a player we've needed for like a decade and thank fuck we finally got him. The only way people will be able to point at the transfer window and say we lost it here is if Giroud goes down long term and Perez is a complete flop, which I don't see him being.

Frustrating game.
Santi was phenomenal, and easily my man of the match.
Mustafi isn't scared about stepping into the oppositions half and receiving the ball relatively high. I anticipate he'll find the odd assist or two this year.
Theo looked good I thought.
Ox was frustrating - as sydcro said to me on Saturday, he's finally remembered it's not preseason.
Perez I didn't see a tonne of. He wasn't bad though, from memory.
But Giroud was so much more of a presence when he came on, I thought.
Ozil is just too good. Every single time he touches the ball, every other player should be ready to receive it because he just puts the ting wherever he thinks will be the best place for us to score. The man is just too good for the club. Or any club. He is above club football IMO.
Kos's goal was outrageous. Coq needs to be applauded for his efforts for the initial header.
Iwobi was a bright spark when he came on I thought.
Alexis seemed frustrated when he came on, but I think that was just him trying to do everything he could in such a short time to win the game. Nothing really came off for him.
Play should have been pulled up by the linesman for the last goal. Forster was standing over Kos, waving for attention. It was dangerous that play was allowed to be continued.
If Long could shoot, we could have easily lost that game 3-1.

Another game where our inefficient midfield paring leads to us playing shit football with Ozil havign to rely on picking up the ball from the CB's.
Elneny and Cazorla should be the pairing for when Xhaka isn't fit.

Rest our best holding player on the weekend so he'll be fit for the toughest game of our group Dont start him Start an inefficient midfield pairing that neither helps the attack or the defence Play Alexis upfront when we have two strikers on the bench Wonder why we actually look like winning the game when CoqDonkey goes off the pitch for someone who doesn't clog up every final 3rd passing lane Thank fucking god that Ospina had a good game and Cavani is shithouse. Could have lost by 5.

Someone mentioned it on twitter and it's the only reasoning that makes any kind of sense to me. Wenger prefers Coquelin and Cazorla together and wants Xhaka and Ramsey together

Credit where it's due Coquelin was really good today.
Alexis with probably 2 goals and hopefully never taking a penalty again.
Not much more to be said about that Xhaka goal lol not a bad way to open your account.
Now for Nottingham Forest

So the League Cup draw couldn't have gone much better. Liverpool v Sp*rs, United v City, West Ham v Chelsea and we have Reading at home. Hopefully we do it a bit easier and avoid the clusterfuck of a few years ago against them.
