Julie Goodwin, Born and raised at Niagara Park, 2 suburbs away from the CCM home ground and is a highly popular presenter on a Central Coast radio station. Is also still producing cookbooks (new one just out) and doing cooking appearances, so a nice link between our local media and our sponsors. Makes sense to me, what do you find awkward about it?

I'm curious of this #1 ticket holder thing.  Is it an AFL knock-off ?

And who used to be #1 ? would love to know who she toppled.

Interestingly it is on Wikipedia as a mainly Australian thing. I actually thought it was a US thing so there you go.
The A-League has had another #1 ticket holder in the past: Melbourne Heart had Jon Bon Jovi in 2010.

Replace 'marketing' with 'player' in the subject title. Who cares what some ego driven PR staffer has to think?

Definitely an AFL thing. Plenty of clubs around the world have famous fans but don't flog them with any sort of title.

That attempt by Victory to get kid fans to choose a mascot. Fortunately Victory is a club that listens to good sense and the campaign lasted literally about half an hour before never being heard from again.

Then again, there are plenty that do.

Without being cynical I think it's great when someone with a public profile (even if not with much money) wants to publicly support their team.

Definitely an AFL thing. Plenty of clubs around the world have famous fans but don't flog them with any sort of title.

Not just AFL. Cathy Freeman was the No.1 fan of the Cronulla Sharks for a number of years after the Sydney Olympics. Peter Costello was then named as the No.1 fan so they could milk government money out of him to upgrade the stadium. I don't think he attended a game.

The A-League has had another #1 ticket holder in the past: Melbourne Heart had Jon Bon Jovi in 2010.

George Calombaris has been the #1 ticket holder at the Victory for a few years now; fellow chef and TV presenter Miguel Maestre was #1 for Brisbane last season.
